lifter?

Lets see if anyone can help me with this. My sr swap is complete,
but runs like sh-t. It smokes like a diner waitress, doesnt rev well over 2 grand and makes a tapping noise. everyone is telling me the noise is probably a lifter thats not getting oil and is stuck. my dad's mechanic from work came over and said he agrees about the lifter. My question is could a stuck lifter be the source of all my problems, or am i in more trouble than i think?

Take off your oil pan, bang it out to make sure the pickup gets the proper flow of oil. take off the oil pickup and full the hole with vaseline (enough to cover like the 1st section of ur pinky) this will create a vaccuum. put the pickup back on, put the pan back on and fill motor with fresh oil. when you start it the vaseline will get sucked up and turned into baisically nothing and the oil flow should be back to the way it should be. and dents in the oil pan cause the problem you described. i did the same thing and after i finished all was well. hope this helps

thanks, i've already banged out the pan, and it doesnt sound like a rod. i might try the vasilene, thanks again
