I vote Blitz Nur-Spec!!!
But between the 2, I'd go Tanabe. Just cuz the Apexi one has been knocked out so much, you cant even tell anymore if what you're getting is real or fake.

Buy whatever is cheaper that meets you requirements. I like Tanabe. I had a super medallion back in the day. Today I would probably get the GT spec since 4" would benefit me. They are both pretty good so like I said, buy the better deal.

I love the OEM exhaust system. Its a little tight if you want more than 320~ horsepower though, but it works just fine to that point, perhaps even better than fine.

I vote Apexi. I had an 3" N1 catback on my coupe, had it for 4 years in harsh KS weather, sounded awesome and never rotted out. Probably still around somewhere since i sold the car with it on there. Best sounding exhaust ive heard in person even with the SOHC KA.

I liked the Tanabe. Sounds really good. Apex'i sounds like the car is just farting out the exhaust. Tanabe has more class lol. That's the only way I can explain it.

I've never heard a bad sounding "REAL" Apexi Catback. They even make hondas sound decent. It's a very mellow deep tone.
Mine had no crackling / farting whats so ever. :D

I described it very poorly haha. It's nice no doubt, but it's not for everyone :P. Basically what I'm trying to say is that the Tanabe sounds "cleaner" lol

I have dual n1s on my s14 with sr. The resonators are gone so its loud but it sounds so good, even my dad likes it haha and he thinks my car is a POS

I am in the process of looking for the car(have one coming by today) and getting it. I have been looking at a butt load of YouTube videos, some suck, otheres are quite good, on all the exhaust systems made for 240's, especailly teh KA's, but also the reds and blacks as well.
In my not so humble opinion and my personal preference to sounds, I totally like the Tanabe Medallion G wiht it's 93 - 95db's, and the HKS Hi Power. They let the car breathe, but the sound isn't basso'd out like those stinking Honda's..man I hate those civics..FWD POS's. I heard Nur's from Blitz, N1's from Apexi(supposed real deal), and evertyhting from 2.4" - 4". Anything larger than 2.5" oin a motor not making more than 500hp sucked and sounded like a boat/truck motor, 3" on high hp(+400hp, turbo) sounded real good with a single 3", but basso'd out wiht dual 3". 4"...WTF are you thinkin? You ain't makin 600+hp so you don't need diesel sized pipes.
Now for the science part:
I'll link it since it explains Bernoulli better than I can
Bernoulli Principle Animation | mitchellscience.com (http://mitchellscience.com/bernoulli_principle_animation)
Essentially what teh Bernoulli prinicple state is what gearheads have known for years. Cubic Displacement and power output dictate exhaust size for velocity. >500hp only uses, or can use 2.5" of exhaust diameter for optimum velocity to be sustained in the pipe to give the ideal scavenging effect in the exhaust/intake combination stroke. A turbo motor moves more air, and thus MAY require a 3" pipe, but this is totally according to the power output. If the motor's output is >500hp, it may only need 2.5". The best way to figure this out is to expereiment with a speed sensor for air movement. see what size moves more air with the power output given.
Me, for anything smallbore/hp, I'll go with 2.5" just because I like the way it sounds

Fujitsubo, or Bee R racing...
I think the Apexi sounds like garbage. Muffler piping/tubing is too thin and gives it that fart can noise. I'd much rather have an HKS if I was going for that style exhaust...

Ohhh, Bee R sound tasty! Like Nachos!

Yeah not so much...
I have 3" Apexi (no cat) on my sr and I love how deep it is. Hell, I'll try to get a good video for you tomorrow.
Edit: just realized that was a necro post...

Yeah, ancient initial post, but I figured since I'm a bit of a newb, why not reopen this instead of making a new thread. You see, I am in the market for ALL the stuff EXCEPT body parts(well the kid wants JDM badges all around) but a little stance, intake, exhaust, computer remap, cams/springs, gears/belt, suspension, brakes...essentially, we are building a sleeper that the kid can learn on, and I can have a bit of backroad fun with...my avatar is pretty much what we have. A totally stock, super condition Zenki that has remain untouched(except for it's white powercoated altima wheels)
