Arright, so my SOHC 240sx has some exhaust leaks (probably several) from the general vicinity of the lower header/catalytic converter, plus we suspect the cat is clogging up.

Coupla questions. . .

This isn't an "omg go fast!" car. It's an "omg get there" car. I am definitely looking to replace the cat, and likely the header too once I get a good look at things.

So, my questions are: What do y'all recommend for a cheap/midrange cat (high flow or otherwise), and what is the stock inlet/outlet size? I was considering replacing the cat with an eBay dump pipe (****, can't go wrong for thirty bucks) given Storey County, Nevada's utter lack of any sort of regulations, but. . . :P

I've found universal cats here and there, but really don't feel like learning to weld/having my stepdad do it. I've also found 2 and 2.5" "direct fit nissan" catco converters at summit for around a hundred bucks. Opinions, comments, flames?

if you dont have to worry about emissions crap, just get the test pipe...

its cheaper than a catco, it all depends on how much money you are willing to throw at something

"omg get there" car or not, its going to sound ****ty IMO with no cat, hundred bucks is a good price for a cat, i'd say go with that

high-flow cat or test pipe...I highly recommand that you do not go with the test pipe. You will sound "ricy" espically with the SOHC. I did that before I swap my motor, omg did i want to kill the car. If you don't plan on doing anything serious I say spend some money and get a high-flow cat or go to a junk yard to find a stock one.
