hey wats up guys. i have a question that i hope you guys can answer for me ASAP. are there and cons to swapping in a manual sr20det into a automatic s13 chassis? i'm not talking about the actual swap because i have seen the FAQ because i searched it like everyone emphasizes. haha. i just want to know the actual product to the swap. are there any differences in the chassis and things like that? the reason i ask is because i found an s13 for a good price but it's an automatic. i plan on swapping in an sr20det, but if there are any bad things about the automatic chassis, i'll just wait and find a manual one. thanks for you help.

if you get the whole front clip (you might not even need it, engine swap usually comees with a tranny), it comes with a (usually) manual transmission
so when you swap, theyll do all that good **** for you

hey im sorry but i think you misunderstood. i meant the actual car. like would there be any difference in an s13 w/ an sr20det swapped in that was originally a manual and an s13 w/ an sr20det swapped in tha was originally an automatic. get it now?:)

I don't.
are you saying you want the final sr20det'ed 240sx to be an auto?

Nothing wrong with swapping an SR20 into a 240 with an automatic. It's just more of a pain in the ass because you have to source the parts to do the conversion.
I have to gothrough the same ting too cause i got a auto. if i buy a front clip, it includes the manual tranny cross member and manual tranny driveshaft right?

yes flybert got it right on the money. yea i understand that the actual swap will be little more difficult, but im willing to go through that. the reason i ask is because im going to go look at an 89 fastback today. its an automatic mated to an engine that the owner says is pretty bad. To me it doesn't matter since i've always wanted the sr20det anyways. the real reason i want this car? its only 300 bucks. wish me luck guys. i've been on the market for a cheap ass s13 for about a year now! give me a break i got no money. haha

The radiator. Automatic circulates tranny fluid through a portion of the radiator. The tranny mount. *I understand their is a slight difference...auto VS Manual in the mounts*. The shifter and console. The Park lockout switch. Transmission fluid lines. Vaccum actuator and vac lines. ECU on certain models. Of course you mentioned the pedals. I think the crise is a little different...not sure. Not sure about the starter..I think they are the same.
I have not done this. This is all I gather from reading about it. Correct me please if I am wrong about any of this ...as what you read may or may not be accurate.
Thats all I can think of off the cuff.

hmm... alas I cannot help you on that one. I had my tranny stuff all done for me by the shop I got my engine from :( Sorry man :/ HOWEVER, you might benefit greatly by getting a FSM from ebay or somewhere...
