Hello, i have an sr20det that was rebuilt. Had a ticking noise in the head, so i took the cover off, cams, rocker arms, and bled the lifters.. put them back in and installed everything..
Timing was off, i hand cranked it.. i would hand crank a few times and it would get blocked.. chains on crank because everything moves and i didnt drop anything.
Im guessing the pistons touching the valves because timing was wrong.. took the camshafts off and did the timing (links on dots) hand cranked and it seemed good.. moved back so it can be at tdc 10'/12' and noticed it's still blocking.. hand crank it right and it gets more turns until the block.. didnt do timing the first time because the chain links where down right a bit and i turned it as much left as i can before the block and was able to get the links onto the corresponding marks on the cams.
Before i uninstalled the cams everything was fine, car cranked and ran.. dont think it had this problem.. the dot isnt lined up on the crank but ive been told it didnt matter.. before the uninstallation i dont think i had the crank dots/ link lined up correctly...
Im not sure if the mark on crank sprocket is alligned with maarked link on chain on the bottom.. does it matter? Yeah it says in fsm to do it, but i didnt do it last time and it ran fine..
Dont want to crank the car over and something fk up, so im wondering if anyone knows why the hell this is going on.. dont want to bend valves *sigh*
Thanks..
