dumb q? bout Diffs

ok havent been abel to find a straight answer yet, so i figure ill look like a dummy and ask. when getting a new LSD,(say a nice tomei or cusco unit), are those specific as to which pumkin its inserted into? either the stock open diff(which i have) or the vlsd, (my friend has), will the same unit go into each or are they specific?

Yes and no.

It wont matter what housing it goes into if you get a KIT, however, if you order JUST the diff, you will have to buy the appropriate output shafts, gaskets, and oil. Kaaz and Tomei I believe now have a kit that will use R200 open diff shafts (no need buying 2 left (or was it right) side VLSD shafts anymore). Personally I don't know how it is, or what exactly (if anything) is needed. For myself, I bought a Nismo S.S.S. full kit so i didn't have any extraneous work to do.
