so i ordered a t25 wastegate off of ebay. after ripping the stock wastegate off of the bracket, and drilling holes for the new one, i find out the wastegate rod is too short. i had a lot of trouble getting the rod on the mechanism for the flapper. when i finally did, i went for a drive with the wastegate connected to the cold pipe, which should have been 8psi, it was boosting up to 12.5 is it ok to run like this? or should i get something with the proper length arm? before i fucked up my stock wastegate i had the boost set to 12psi, so im not really worried about the boost level, more worried about the operation of the flapper with the shorter rod, is it ok to run like this as long as the boost doesnt spike any higher?

Well firstly why would you buy such a important part of your car off eBay? Almost everything on eBay that's aftermarket is garbage.
Anyways to answer your question, someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I think certain wastegates are set to certain psi. So maybe your eBay wastegate is just set at that psi?

nah, its supposed to be set to 8. and i bought it from ebay because it was the only place i could find a new unit to get it in time for IFO sunday. i think i can fix it if i make a different bracket for it, if you notice the stock one puts the wastegate about 1/4 inch further from where it mounts from, maybe if i get a flat piece of aluminum and make a flat bracket instead of one that comes away from it like that it will work a bit better.
you can see in this pic the way the bracket is.

Also, i dont typically use ebay parts, but i figured it wouldnt make that much of a difference for a temporary fix. wastegates arent terribly complex.

12.5 PSI is fine as long as it doesnt go above that really

No but when they crap out they will cause the Turbo to Overboost and blow the turbo or the engine

Alright, well I'm fairly certain different flappers for different wastegates are set to psi, I know you can change it but I'm not really sure how. Someone with more experience will chime in on here eventually. And just curious where is your IFO, ours is March 27th I believe at Gilliam raceway.

Its the spring inside the wastegate that controls the pressure. stiffer spring will open at a higher pressure. but because the rod is too short, when it fully extends at 8psi or more, the flapper isnt opening completely, thus it cant let enough gas bypass to keep it at 8psi. ill try and do a pull tomorrow to make sure the boost doesnt get too high.
I have a fully built motor, and i have my fuel pressure set to 45-46psi just as a precaution. I'll also install my wideband friday or saturday so i can make sure im not running lean.
Our IFO is in Bell Rose, LA. We also have another one in Baton Rouge but its not till august.
This is only temporary anyway. I have a shit ton of work done to the engine, it just needs a turbo and fuel injectors and a tune then its good to go. shooting for 400hp.
