I have an s14 with an rb25 swap. i have the r33 gauge cluster.

the person who i got it off of had the swap done at a shop.

The gauge cluster doesnt work now. No lights or movements from any of the needles.

Can anyone point me in the direction of what wires to trace or colors of wires?

He said when his front driver side tire rubbed the inner fender the lights shorted out. so im guessing to look in that general area but if anybody has colored wire to look at it would be much easier.

thanks in advance!

The only reason why nobody is helping you out because you most likely didnt search before u asked the question. Plus the guy you bought the car from probly just bolted the cluster in and said it worked. 2 seconds of searching i found this.

i actually have that saved and printed out and put in my notebook. I have been using car forums for over 10 years now so i have used the search button.

the cluster is wired in correctly. to fill in the story a little more:

found blown fuse under dash. 7.5A fuse. replaced it with good fuse and all dash lights work and tach works. i go to move the vehicle and barely turn the wheel and the fuse blew. Now i cant get the fuse to not blow as soon as i turn the key.

Looking for any help where to search for the short if its not in the cluster.

Maybe there is a loose wire somewhere around the steering column, because I'm sure you know there must be a short somewhere. I think I would try to trace the steering column all the way down to the axles and then to the wheels just to make sure there isn't anything in the way.

I would also would into checking to see if the fuses need to be of different amperages, maybe it does in some aspect or not. Hopefully I was of some assistance

do the wires go inside the fender well to the speed sensor? thats the only wire on the outside of the car that would have an effect other than tach correct?

well I wouldn't think into the fenders, but again I'm not too versed in these cars. That wire would go through the firewall. but I would check on that to make sure

the fuse blew once the speedo barely moved off 0. now it blows as soon as you put it in and turn the key. before it even starts.

Did you happen to ask the previous owner if it was a known problem? Or possibly what shop did the work so you could get some background on the swap?

i tried contacting Billy. the original owner. but he told me it stopped working after he rubbed his wheel in the fender. dont know how true that is. he said multiple shops helped him with the build.
