I have a quick question. Will an entire obd2 setup (95 obd2 motor, harness, and ecu) work in my obd1 s14 chassis?
I can get a good deal on the motor, ecu and harness, but having to switch the manifold, and dizzy (etc, etc.) to obd1 would defeat the purpose.
Are the pins outs on the s14 power plug the same between the obd1 motor and early obd2 motor?
Thats the only thing i could think of that would keep the motor from working in my chassis.
Are there any other problems im overlooking?
Any knowledge on the subject would be very helpful.
Ive Searched, nothing covers this question, everyones just says switch the intake manifold.
THIS IS NOT AN OPTION.
thanks in advanced!

You don't have to swap the intake manifold - And you'll be better off using the car's existing harness.
Ad for the purposes of the rest of my post, we will not use OBD-1 and OBD-2...that's not the difference between years. ALL S14's are OBD-2 compliant.
That said...
It is plug-n-play...HOWEVER...if you put in the '96-98 motor, all you'll need to do is swap the coolant temp sensor, O2 sensor, and a few minor other things (TPS? - Can;t recall)...and you'll be good to go.
This is assuming the chassis already has a (blown?) motor with the sensors on it?
If not...sure, do what you're asking. But it's more work than swapping a few sensors.

Hey Brian,
Thanks for the reply. It was very helpful. Currently the car is just a shell, with no motor, ecu, or harness in it. So, if what you are saying is correct, the obd2 setup should have no problems (specifically the wiring).
Also, if im using an obd2 ecu and harness, why would i need an earlier (off of an obd1 motor) o2 and coolant temp sensor?
thanks for the help!

something to also add, what about using a 95 ecu in a 96? sorry for the thread jack. but to answer ur question, you should be fine with using everything
