I am new to the forum and currently in Afghanistan. I have been looking for awhile to import an S15. I have come to a dead end trying to locate one, but am determined to find one.

I have had a Pontiac, Jeep, and currently a Charger.
A buddy of mine here in the 'Stan and I have been talking about the S chassis and I've fallen for the S15. Just something about it..

I'm sure there are n00bs coming here every week saying they want to import this or that grey-market car, but I am serious about this. Deployment nets additional monies so it's really a matter of will (and busting through the red tape) to get my S15 stateside. I just need to be pointed in the right direction.

Any way you do it, it will be done illegally and by taking a chance that the customs don't see it when it goes through port. Recently, the feds just cracked down on Kaizo which was shipping the S15 over in parts then rebuilding it and registering it as a kit car. I heard a bunch of people got their cars taken away. Search Kaizo on google...

There's one for sale right now on here for 40k buy that and call it a day considering it will prob cost that to buy it and get it over here stateside

^ yup thats the easiest way to do it u may spend a couple thousand more but i think its worth it. BUti would just buy a corvette for the same amount

The only way to get an S15 over here is like someone else said; one that is already registered over here. And even then it depends on how it is registered.

In the rare case that it is "federally legal" then you can pretty much legally own it and drive it wherever the hell you please.

"State legal" is, well, legal on a state-by-state basis. More sketchy.

Then there are a few people who (THIS IS ILLEGAL) swap VIN's from USDM spec 240sx's onto S15's (or any jdm car) and register it as a 240sx. Yes that will get you fucked if the feds find out, I think vin tampering is a felony. But there are a lot of people doing that. I wouldn't recommend it though.

If you really just gotta have that S15 front end, just do an S14.5, it's your best bet and it blends pretty well.

S13.5's look weird, and RPS13.5's are meh.

Bottom line: don't try and import.

i dont get it. if you want the car then import it. the problem is if you try to register it for ROAD USE. buy it as an offroad vehicle and call it a day, there are plenty of people who do that with their imports.

When it hits stateside reassemble the car and you have an s15 stateside. Getting it registered is a whole other beast.
