Miles: 102,XXX ORIGINAL (BODY AND MOTOR)
I'm selling my 1976 Datsun 280Z. The car is a beauty and has been very well restored to original. The exterior has all the parts in great condition. The previous owner had the car resprayed the original light blue color, I'll be honest though, it could use a better paint job as some parts are chipped/peeling. It looks great from 10feet away, but up close you can notice the flaws. There is a bit of rust in the usual places for these cars, but there is far less rust then I have seen on most of these cars. The main problem area is the lower rockers on both sides. However, the frame and underbody are very clean and rust free. The original floorboards are also in very good condition, no rusting through the floor.
The interior is for the most part original. There were a few parts that were restored. The carpet and window cranks for instance are new. The interior is very clean all over and the leather seats are still very comfortable, more so than most newer model cars I have driven. The dash is in perfect shape and uncracked. All the gauges work and lights work in the car. The only thing that doesn't work is the clock. In the glovebox you will find the original factory manual as well. When I purchased the car the factory radio had already been removed, so I installed a RetroSound radio to keep the classic look but updated with radio and MP3 player capabilities, there is no CD player but one can be added. These cars never came with speakers in the front, only rear speakers. I have had the rear tail lamp panel modified to hold 2 6.5" speakers with a custom fiberglass enclosure, this is so the speakers point towards the cockpit as the stock positions have the speakers on either side facing eachother. It is professionally done and looks great and will last forever. The speakers are brand new Polk Audio 6.5" and they sound great!
The engine and transmission are all original. This was the 2nd year that the Z came with fuel injection, it is also the last year it came with a 4speed manual transmission. You can still install a 5speed manual if you desire. The car has 102xxx original miles. The clutch has recently been changed by the previous owner, I have the service receipt from the dealer. I replaced the Front and Rear main seals, the Valve cover gasket, and the Oil Pan gasket, I have all receipts. There are no leaks and the oil pressure gauge reads perfect. The car has also never overheated and always runs at the perfect operating temperature. The engine runs strong, pulls very hard, and always starts on the first crank. The previous owner installed an aftermarket header on the exhaust and also removed the catalytic converter and it sounds amazing!! I just installed brand new NGK spark plugs and wires as well as a new cap and rotor. The A/C doesn't work, haven't tried to figure it out yet since I've never needed A/C in any of my cars. Heater works somewhat, enough to defog the windshield, lol.
To be honest, I'm surprised at how much torque this old engine still has and how well it still runs, it's truly a look back at Nissan's racing heritage.
I'm selling the car because I really need something newer for myself and this project is complete. I think in a few years time I may try and restore an older 240Z. I need to go back to school now though and need to buy a bigger and more practical car for getting around town. I've loved driving the Z and not to mention all the looks I get from people who pull up next to me, not to mention all the compliments I've received on the car. It really is a beauty and deserves to be seen in person.
The price is $5000 FIRM. I don't care what price other people have sold their's for, this is MY 280Z and I set my own price. To be honest, if I can't get what I want for it I may just keep it and finance another car since it's so much fun to drive. If I wind up keeping it though however it will not stay original for too long.
Thanks for looking.

I may end up responding to you via PM since I know how touchy the Mods get about the OP "bumping" too much, even though I'm just replying to questions.
