I got a 110 mig welder and It's always worked great but i'm pretty confused on this one, and got pretty pissed off because of it, I've tried every heat setting every wire feed setting i can't figure this out, and this started happening once i got a new argon/c02 tank, thats the only thing i changed so unless something else went wrong I think it has to be that.
okay, when i'm trying to lay a bead down it's spotty, I can't do a continuous bead, if i raise the wire feed up it lays faster, but still spotty, and sometimes it lays as if theres no gas on, but I can hear it in the gun and I have pressure in the tank. It's kind of hard to explain but the welds look different and everything compaired to what i usually do.
I've tried looking up to see if anyone has had this problem but no luck, so if someone can help that'd be awesome. thanks

Pics? Sometimes you get a bad bottle of gas. We have had it happen at the shop before. See if someone can swap you a bottle real quick.

I wouldn't doubt it really, I didn't take any pictures of it I will have too tomorrow but I don't want to weld like this it makes it look like i can't lay a bead down properly, and is pretty embarrassing. I've tried every setting, I went and bought a new tip and stuff, I can't see my welder taking a shit on me that quickly when just yesterday it was running PERFECTLY.
But I'll hold the trigger, and it'll lay a spot, then another spot, and another spot, like it gives me no time to move side to side or do circles or anything, so they look shitty

Also check your ground. Sometimes the clamp will come lose and cause all sorts of issues.

I say it's the ground with out a doubt when u can't lay a good bead make Autry clean it... What mig welder u got?
It's either the ground or you're moving your hand all around. I've seen this with people that had a really unsteady hand. If you let the gun get closer to the workpiece it's like more wirefeed, if you pull it away it's like less. Pull it away fast enough and it's like a really low wirefeed and you get popping/splattering.
Bad gas or no gas will leave a weld that's all porous and bubbly.
I had a problem with a loose clamp on my welder's gun/gas feed, and it'd suck in some oxygen and give a porous weld at times, but sometimes it'd weld fine.

Check your regulator too, I've had one get something in it once and had to have it rebuilt. Run your gun and watch your flow gauge. Also run your gun and make sure your feed is smooth. You might have the spool too loose or too tight...

Are you welding outside? Wind blows away the gas and makes the weld/bead look shitty because the gas is being blown away. Same as being with no gas. Also check the ground wire wheel a spot for the clamp to make better ground.
