Hey guys,

I just replaced my blow KA for a "new" one on my stock 97 kouki and now Im having some weird wiring issues.

The problem is whenever I connect the positive terminal to the battery the main fuse blows (100 amp), and no eletricals work, however the motor does turn and runs w/o a problem.

so my first thought was bad ground somewhere.
I got my voltmeter and started testing.

Ground on the drivers side head is good @ 12v
ground on passanger side head good @ 12v
ground on intake manifold good @ 12v
ground on alternator good @ 12v

starter does not SHOW any power (ignition on or off - dont matter), but it does start the car.

Any ideas what I need to check next? All eletronics used to work fine before the swap was done.

TIA

I had this issue when I installed a s13 alternator into my s14. I had to use an insulator piece from my old s14 alternator. After that it quit blowing the main fuse.

I'm not sure about the starter issue... maybe you didn't measure right... it should have power if the car is starting.

You nailed it, bad ground on the alternator was the issue. I switched to the alternator that was in the blow motor and now the problem is gone.

THX :-)
