i already changes wires rotor and cap and still misfiring in 3rd thought it could b the plugs so i switched 2 and 3 to see if there was a difference and still nothing.. theres spark coming out of the cap but when i remove the cable from the plug it makes no difference as if spark is not going thru so i switched wires from 3 and 4 and still the problem stays at 3 ..anyone have an idea what it could b???

when you un plug the wire from the spark plug is there spark at that end?

I suppose. .. can't really tell when u lift it and haven't had a chance to check it but I've even switched wires 3 and 4 and the problem is still on 3 so I don't see why it wouldn't b getting the spark across if it works fine being on another cylinder but when I get home from work today ima take out the spark plug and connect it to the wire so I can see if it is

what motor do you have?
2nd
is the check engine light on? if so pull the error codes from the ecu.

are you sure the contact for #3 in the distributor cap is still intact?

your injector may be dumping too much fuel.

Ka24de and no the light is not on and yes its a brand new cap. .. I'm going to do a compression test on it today see if there's a leak er if its the valve causing the problem

run the car then unplug your injectors one by one. if the idle didnt change after you unplug the injector, thats injector giving you probs.
could be a bad injector/ needs new o-rings.

^^^^^ That only tells you that the cylinder is not firing, not the cause. If he has no spark on that cylinder, the result would be the same. He needs to determine if he has spark at the spark plug first to eliminate that possibility.
Next, I'm not sure if you can do this on a KA, but on my SR I was able to loosen up the fuel rail and pull it back enough to watch the injectors squirting. If you can do that, you will be able to see if one of your injectors is either not squirting, or possibly stuck open.

Is there any other way of knowing if it's staying open? Cuz when I pull out the spark plug its drenched in gas

Sorry if i missed it if you posted it, but dose it miss when you start it, then clear out and run fine? Any smell of fuel when missing? Is it hard to start, like takes a few seconds then fires?

Wait it is drenched in gas? Then its that injector leaking
Had the same thing happen on my KA. But i had 2 injectors leaking. I have a couple extra good injectors if you want them LMK.

All the error code would say is "Misifire in Cylinder 3."
With the usual to do list to troubleshoot:
Plugs
Plugwires
Injection
Like everyone else that has posted, I would agree. Just check the injector. Pull it out, PB Blast that bitch, pop it back in. Worked for me on my old EP3.

Mm sometimes it starts up fast sometimes it takes a Lil longer
.and no it doesn't clear up and it just smells like mad gas and it waste gas like if it had a v10 and runs as fast as a Geo 1st gear it misfires once in 2nd it gets worse and in 3rd it struggles bad. .. wires rotor and cap are all new...how much for the injectors?
Wat does PB blast them mean
Btw my compression in the cylinder was 140 and it had no leak

O and the plug is the one that is drenched

PB Blaster is a penetrant, but you can use any parts cleaner, really. That and an air compressor is a plus.

O ok thanks ...well I'm trying to get this bad girl running by Saturday for a drift event so I hope cleaning it out helps
... but also every 3k miles along with my oil change I pour in Lucas fuel system cleaner. .shouldn't that keep it from getting dirty
Yea I was reading your post right now

sounds like you either have a bad o-ring that is leaking a bunch of gas into the cylinder, or the injector is stuck open. Replace o-rings, and do it very carefully, they are easy to damage and then you still have the same problem. If the problem goes away, you're done. If it continues, try swapping the injector with another cylinder and see if the problem moves with the injector. If so, replace injector.

exactly what i would have done, but i do the injector swap first. then replace the oring if one of the injectors are bad. still same buy a new injector.

my friends ka had the same issue.. after replacing EVERYTHING we ran a simple compression test and found the issue.. the head gasket had cracked between the 2 middle cylinders.. it wasnt blowing smoke or sucking antifreeze either.. it sounded like a simple misfire and make the car shake.. run a simple compression check and see if thats your problem.. its cheap and easy and might save you a major headache...
