always had good hot heat in my 240, now tonight i turn the heat on and it's cool. i was driving for over an hour and the temp gauge never came up past the third bar from the bottom. i just had the engine rebuilt this summer any ideas? i need to fix this before winter really gets here.

if your engines heating up as normal it could be a few things...
- The coolant control valve lets hot rad fluid into your heater core when you slide it over to hot, when you turn it to cool it blocks that coolant from getting into the heater core. (hence not hot)
We used to have an old caravan which had no heat. After almost having the heater core replaced we ended up just lubricating the control valve (it was stuck in the cold position)
thing is I dont know where it is on the 240. Its somewhere on the rad hoses going into your firewall usually though Ive never really looked for it. Usually its vacum actuated. If the valve gets stuck and you can get at it, use LPS or wd40 to free it up although youll want to replace it.
it could also be the cable or vacum hose leading to this valve is damaged
BUT
if your engines simply not heating up it could be the thermostat or something like that.
where in canada do you live?

also check your coolant mixture before spendin money on anything else... my dad's 96 voyager had the same problem... to fix it, we just flushed the coolant and replaced it with new one (50/50 coolant/water)

It's most likely your heater core. Probably the cable linkage system. Move your hot/cold lever back and forth and tell us whether you can hear/feel the Mix door in the heater core opening and closing.

to answer questions: i can hear/feel the coolant door opening, there is a noticible difference between hot and cold, the coolant mix is supposed to be 50/50 but haven't double checked that yet. i'm in winnipeg, manitoba. i'm pretty sure that it's the thermostat as the engine temp doesn't come up

I suppose the thermostat could be stuck open. Never really heard of that happening though.
