Transmision Problems

On my way home today I was in third gear and down shifted to second my car did not go into that gear and then after that the shifter would not move or go into any gear. Can anyone tell me what this might be. Thanks

my shifter does not move or go into gear. It also makes a grinding sound when you release the clutch. Any ideas?

Nobody? Little history on the tranny; Third and fourth gear scratched when driving hard, when driving normal they never did. On deceleraion third and fourth always made this weird sound.

the synchros probably are out of alignment. Have you ever done any maintenance or tune up?

It's my guess...

I had that happen to my tranny - for other reasons...
I took it in, and they opened it, and realigned the synchros...fine now.

Yes it was a like a whinning noise in 3rd and 4th while deceleration.
I have not done any maintnanace to the tranny only the engine. How much did the re-aligment cost you?
