gah, when disconnecting the wiring harness for the stereo, stupid me forgot to pick out the "amp turn on" wire...will this wire ALWAYS be blue/white, or can it be anything? Right now there's 2 wires that dont go anywhere, that arent connected to the harness, one is black/white, the other is purple, and is connected to the 2 RCA's leading to the amp.

well its usually a REALLY DARK blue.. so it is probably that purple wire if its connected to the rcas..

nm, went to best buy (closest place that was open, that could help) and had them tell me what it was, they even gave me some free wire. but yeah, it is the wire stuck to the RCA's, but the guy said i shouldnt use them, and that i should run a separate wire, *Shrug* I may, or may not.

if a radio doesnt come with a remote wire(blue/white)
the remote is just a 12 volt source so if it doent have a remote just hook it up the the ignition wire (yellow)
so now when you turn the car on it will tell the deck and the amp on at the same time BUT
from some ignitions when you turn the car on it will make a pop sound
i dont know if its bad for the amp but i will make the amp turn on

That wire is red (ACC) yellow (12V+ const) (unless you are talking about factory color codes, and I think that wire is prehaps brown (probably not, I can't remember), yea they do often pop, and depending on the intensity of the pop it can be bad! But one thing is for sure, it's always annoying!!

on the aftermarket head unit the ingnition wire is yellow the red is a contant 12v source just to keep all the memory
anyway if you turn the vol. down before shuting off the car the pop is not soo bad when you turn it on

nevermind, turns out there is no blue remote wire, it was just hooked up to the one that comes along with the RCAs..

240likenoother,
I'm not trying to be rude, (unless these are non-standard color codes) , but red is accessory (switched) and yellow is constant (12V+) also called the memory wire.

If your RCA outputs are monster cable, then the wire that is inbetween them is to ground them out to reduce noise.
