My s14 sr20det just recently was dyno tuned at a local dyno shop, the guy tuning my car said he cannot tune my car past 15psi of boost because the engine was starting to tickle the ping? I dont know much about tuning but i expected to get it tuned for 18 or 19 psi so
my question is is 15 psi the max for my engine ? i read alot about the set up before i started building my car and didnt think i would be restricted to only 15 psi
does this sound right or should i find some one else to tune my car? the shop that i got to tune my car does primarly musle cars. it also took him a long time to figure out how to use the power fc tuner which made me kinda scepticle,
my car did 262whp on a mustang dyno at 15 psi on 91oct i wasent to pleased
my car started of competley stock everything was added last year
full sr20det black top with vtc swap (stock inernals)
power fc D-jetro (map) with boost controller
gt2871r .86 turbo with hks wastegate
upgraded turbo lines
full blitz intercooler kit
hks intake air filter (stock maf was left on the plumbing)
tomei elbow 3'' dp and test pipe with hks exaust
hks 740cc
spit fire coil packs
walbro pump
koyo rad with samcos dual flex a fans and nismo thermostat
hks bov
all new belts, plugs, filters and gaskets
act stg3 clutch
ect.........
im doing the top end this spring
let me know if i should be expecting more outta this set up thanks

yeah... you should be making really good power with that setup that guy shouldn't ever touch an sr20 again. on an s14 vtc running 1bar on stock everything with an intake, exhaust, and fmic should be putting out those numbers, nevermind a power fc? once you get it tuned properly your gonna be more than pleased with the results. goodluck :)

Frank at Garage Boso tuned my car. My setup is very similar to yours and it made 300 bhp at 9 psi on 91 oct.
You should find someone else. I hate those fucker tuners who don't admit their limited knowledge and take your money.
By the way, i hope you are not running stock HG, i don't see it listed on your list.

Was he using the Commander to tune or Datalogic?
Did he touch the timing map or was he only playing with fuel?
Enthalpy has some good base maps for the PowerFC. R.S. Enthalpy: Nissan ROM Tunes, ECU Reflashes and Dyno Tuning. Tampa Bay, Florida. (http://www.rs-enthalpy.com/info.html) The ignition map is a good guide for how bad the PFCs base timing map is.

he used the comander the shop didnt have instuctions on how to use power fc it was my fault in a way because i assumed they would be more familiar and possibly have the datalogic, he attempted to adjust both timing map and fuel, i still dont understand why he couldnt tune past 15psi he said ill have to get the motor built to run more boost.
i checked out the enthalpy tune site and there was aalont of helpfull stuff on there even those i didnt understand all of the tuning aspects lol , i actually planned on going that rout with the ecu rom tuning to avoid all this dyno tuning situation because there isnt any reputable dyno tuning shops that i know of out here but i was convinced by the performance shop that did all the work on my car that the power fc would be better im sure it would be if i found some one that can use it

Where did you go in Edmonton? I don't know of any decent nissan tuners here except for
[email protected] with AEM (heard) and Campbell Automotive supposedly does hondata well. Quite a few shops here that tune domestic ECU's well though.
The lack of tuners/good shops here forced me to tune my own car and learn everything myself.
I would seriously consider taking your car down to lightspeed in Red Deer. Cam has been nothing but pleasant and stand up for me. If I wasn't fully confident in my tuning abilities I would have taken my car to him. He is very familiar with the power FC.
