I have around 800 dollars saved up. I was wondering what you guys think is more benificial to do, go ahead and do a 5spd conversion(my car is auto 95 240sx se) or start sourcing parts for a turbo kit(junkyards, online, etc") Thanks, Tarik

What is the final goal you want to accomplish with your car???

suspension before anything else

power is nothing if it cannot be controlled

No, just playin, it really depends on what you want with the car. I really don't know how much i costs for a five speed swap, but you can always use that. If youre go0ing for something more for the track i'd go suspension first, but if youre just goin for fun on the street, i'd go for the turbo rather than something that's gonna be a pain in your ass(literally) to drive everyday with crazy suspension.

i had a 95 auto and it was fun then i was rearended and baught a stick and i would never go back but when i had the auto the cheapest i could find the swap was 3000 but if you buy the sr front clip they come with a tranny most of the time and then just go to junk yard and rip out all the stuff you need, here is a link on how to do it and a list of parts you'll need if you want to try it you self http://www.240sx.org/links/installs/s14_5speed_swap.htm but the first thing i did on mine was suspension anti sway bars and tokico hp's but hey my stick has bone stock suspension on it and you can controle the car better with a stick whatever have fun

driftyour40 , that link is to a out of date faq. The install on 240sx.org is incomplete. If you need to do a auto to 5 speed swap look in our faq section . There is a more complete outline there.

i feel you man, im in the same route as you. im stuck w/a auto to. but im taking a different path. I plan on getting a SR w/mt swap. Since im planning on buying a front clip, it would come w/all the nessesary parts i need for a mt swap , except for driveshaft, clutch pedal, speed sensor and shifter right?

Uh. Make sure EVERYTHING that wears is in good order and plan ahead on what may need to be replaced sometime in the near future. Out of your choices I'd do the 5spd conv. but if it were me I'd do suspension(after maintenance). My T/C bushings are shot...sniffle....sniffle...:wtc:

Thanks for the input guys. I've already done some suspension mods like new coilovers and anti-sway bars. I think i'll probably go witht the 5spd conversion, but i guess it'll depend on the prices i find. I don't know, a front clip may turn out to be the best option in the end, because the sr is defidently better than the stock ka, but i like the torque of the ka-t. thanks, Tarik

One of the things you don't want to find yourself doing, is piecing together a turbo kit. If I were you, I'd do the 5spd, or suspension.

unless you want to save money, and get better equipment..

there is NOTHING wrong with peicing together a turbo kit.

true, but it gets really depressing with low income and you can only buy parts sporadically. watching the parts trickle in is wasteful. save ur money and keep doing research the whole time. when u have money for all the separate pieces buy them together. that way if something better comes out, or u change ur mind for the set up along the way, you still have options and cash instead of a heap of useless parts.

if 800 dollars is all your money in the world, then i wouldn't do any kind of modification right now. that money is your buffer if anything happens to your car, or if any other emergencies come up.

I agree with that post. $800 may seem like enough and GAWD its so tempting to waste it...but any can happen. I live that out the hard why after I spent $700 on rims that are still sitting in my room, while having a cracked header.
