Hey guys!
I am hoping you guys are able to assist with a question I have regarding RB turbo replacement. My current S2 turbo is burning oil and has shaft play, so I am going to be replacing it. I have found a NEO turbo with roughly 25K miles on it, and I am wondering if it is a direct bolt-on replacement. I am assuming I could just swap the two, but I wanted to be sure before I purchased the turbo. Any feedback would be appreciated!

Damn...nobody has any idea? Somebody has to be familiar with the various RB25 turbos...haha...

Its a direct Bolt On using your S2 Turbo components
The link you sent me, It looks like a Regular S1 or S2 turbo, due to the W/G.
Its harder to tell since I cant see the front of the turbo but It should Say Garrett on the compressor for it to be a NEO Version.

Cool, thanks man! I was under the impression 2 versions of the NEO were produced. The first being a nylon/ceramic combo, with the other being all steel. Obviously, the one pictured in your link was the Garrett steel blade turbo. Correct me if I am wrong though...
Now I'm a little un-easy about going to check this turbo. The guy was saying he pulled it off the NEO with low miles, but who knows now...

The Nylon Compressor wheel with Ceramic Exhaust Bladed Neo turbo's came in Australia, the Steel Wheel with Ceramic Exhaust wheel came in Japan.
The one I posted is the steel Wheel version
Heres some info
These are AUS turbo's Though

I emailed the shop in your link, and they can order the BNIB NEO turbo's...I'm just going to buy that and call it a day...probably a better idea than worrying about second hand turbo's...thanks again for all your help...

Are you buying the neo turbo listed on ebay? I was thinking of doing the same thing.

BTW this website has it cheaper than the link above. R34 NEO RB25DET Turbocharger - 14411-AB000 - Nissan (http://www.nissanraceshop.com/product/331888/rb25det-turbocharger-14411ab000)

Yeah, I WAS thinking about it until I talked to the shop. He said the casing had the imprint of "45v2" which is a S1/S2 RB25 turbo...the NEO turbo's have the "Garrett" on the housing, or "OP6" I believe...I'll check that link...thanks...plus he was saying the odometer read like 25-30k, then he said 15k in an email...sounded sketch...

Ohh damn yea I didnt take a real good look at it, the one on ebay. Usually sketched about buying on ebay because that will happen.
Im also trying to figure out the best option for a stock replacement for the rb25 turbo, preferably something very similar in size as stock, but something that can withstand a significant increase in boost down the road.
I may just get a z31 t3 turbo from the junkyard and see what happens.

Nice...let me know how your research goes! I'm looking into a bunch of different options as well, but it's tough finding a quality bottom mount without just doing OEM. Have you looked into those HyperGear ones from Aus/Nz?

I was just about to suggest Hyper Gear.
I got one from Hyper gear, but havent installed it yet.
Full OEM bolt on.

Touge Whore, this is probably not what you want to hear but I am going to just run an sr20 t28 turbo with an adaptor for the stock manifold.
Im getting it for next to nothing and its made by Garrett, I dont think i have room to complain.

Alright, so I purchased the NEO turbo from Fontana Nissan and I should have it here in a couple weeks...thanks for the link jbballa...will it run "normal" if I bolt it up? It has a slightly larger A/R, and I'm in the process of purchasing the Apex-i PFC and N62 MAF, but it should run fine until then, correct?

Whew...so, after much wait, I was able to install the new NEO turbo. As sileighty_85 said, it bolts directly on using all of the OEM lines and fittings. It was a serious pain though, taking almost 9 hours with all the rusty, crappy bolts trying to snap on me. So far, there have not been any puffs of smoke as I come to stop lights/signs, which is a good sign. Also, the burning oil smell has pretty much stopped. Thanks guys for all your input!
Hey Guys,
bringing this thread back from the dead. Just letting you know I have two of these in stock that i'm blowing out for $643.50 each plus shipping!
Give me a call before they are gone and back up to normal price!
