Hey guys, Im pretty new here, I am researchin before I'll get a 240SX, What a better way to start then here, hopefully everybody can give me some answer, advices, and opinion. I always wanted a 240SX, I think the way it looks is nice, and it has a lot of potential. I wanted to start off with the 95-96 body, I was wonderin is the USDM engine worth fixin up? or if u have the money would u swap to SR20 engine? How expensive are the parts for this car? and is it worth using all the money for. This is gonna be a long project, i know a lot of money gonna be spent, but I wanna do research before making the final decision. Please give me some feedback guys.

wow lotta new peoples coming...not in a flaming mood so i'll be nice. there's a big red search button up there, it'll answer all your needs. only saying this because people that have been on this forum for a while have answered those same questions a million times over and get pretty irritated when they have to for the umpmillionth time when you can just search and find all their old posts. short answers to your questions, KA is a good engine, good enough to spark numerous debates on this forum on whether a turbo KA is better than an SR20, look it up you'll find hundreds of posts. Seeing that you're from San Jose, don't get the SR unless you're willing to put up with the risks, i.e. cali has some strictass emissions rules, CHP hates import cars and street racing. As for prices, they're continually rising to the popular and trendy demand of JDM engine swaps.....first time i saw pricing for a sr20 front clip it was about 2000, now i'm seeing 3500 and up. do a little more research before your next post and you won't get flamed, at least you didn't mention anything about silvia's or JDM S15 taillight conversions hehe..

I wonder if people realize these cars are good for more than M4Dd D0|2iFt0 and front end conversions.

Like, people know that there's actual racing done in 240SXs, too; right?

Naw man, it's all about the "S1LV1A" conversion! You gotta do it, or you're a poser, that's what 240's are made for. And it's SR or bust, cause if you're not JDM, you're not a part of the crowd.

:D
Yeah I really wish there were nice tracks around here that did time attack trials. I would drop drifting for any time attack.

Im plannin to make it a Drag car, no driftin, maybe cuz there's not much around here...mostly track for drag...I wanted to built a beast, something that can handle the power..And all i know is SR20 are great engine that can handle a lot of power. Im not an expert with this, Coming from Honda. I know u guys have like bunch of people postin up question like this, but i really dun got time to go thru everything, i work all day, and go to school at night. I did try but there's so many thread that has nothin to do with what im askin. So i only want straight up answer n' i can just go into the thread and know that what people are writing is the answer to my question. This is doin research a year before or so before Im actually buyin the car. I wanna go the right route and not go one route, waste money and turn around and go another. Just one straight road to buildin up a Great Car. And this won't just be speed. Also be a clean lookin 240 which run 12's or 11's if not faster.

Right now, I was thinkin of gettin 240sx 95 model or 96. from auction or something. Then swap in an SR20 engine from this place which always do swap so their familiar with this engine swap. n' then go on from there. I wanna start off from scratch, nothin, nada, to somethin that's perfection. Also later future of course new front headlights and conversion and repaint whole car after the speed is there. I already have a 97 Honda prelude to drive around for now while the project will be in the process. So what do u guys think of this plan. All i know is that it's gonna be a lot of money, but i love this car, since i was lil'. I saw how people can make it look and run. So i want mine to be like that. I just want to know how much power can the SR20 handle and is it worth gettin into. Is gettin the JDM part hard and expensive? THanks guys.

There are better options for making retarded amounts of power than a 2.0 liter engine, and better cars for it than something with an independent rear suspension like a 240SX. If I wanted to build a drag car, I'd take the 429 sitting in an old truck my dad owns and cram it into a fox body mustang and go from there.

Certainly be a cheaper option to make respectable ETs on than a 240SX with a smaller motor than what comes in it from the factory.

This is, of course, all in my not quite humble opinion.
