A couple weeks ago I did an engine swap in my s13 (91 ka to 95 ka) and reused the s13 intake. During the process I changed over the knock sensor from my old motor (it was good) and deleted the egr system. So.. the time came to start it up and timing was at 5 ish degrees, and no egr stuff plugged in, but the car threw no code. After setting the timing to 20 degrees and driving around the block I got a CEL, so I pulled over and I had forgotten to plug in the coolant temp sensor, knock sensor, and TPS. After plugging all of them back in I took the car back home and still had the CEL. I drove the car like this for about 2 weeks and could tell I should be making more power, so I pulled the codes and got 32 (EGR) and 34 (detonation). EGR was expected but detonation was not since I am running stock timing. I cleared the codes and drove it to school, when I went to leave the CEL was back on again. I know that one of the codes is for the EGR, but I'm worried about the knock sensor.. I'm gonna pull codes again tomorrow morning just to make sure but would unplugging the knock sensor cause it to throw a permanent code until it was reset (even though I reconnected it)? And is there any way to bypass the egr code thing?
