Well what are you looking to do with the car in the future? Look good or perform well?

If your just wanting a nice stance than do the springs with a nice set of KYBs or something similar.

If your looking for something more performance oriented do the coilovers. There are so many brands of coilovers on the market anymore you can go dirt cheap or super high quality. By saying that I would recomend a nice basic set of K Sport or Tein coilovers and be done.

Youngsters....:sigh:
First advice: Do a research, this goes for everything in LIFE.
Read, educate yourself, knowledge is power.

Second: Whatever you do, don't CHOP THE SPRINGS.
That is plain stupid and dangerous.
If you research, you would have know that, and most importantly, why.

Third: Save for coilovers, doesn't have to be baller status, just coilovers, even used ones.

The lower springs, will not make your car look cool enough and will blow your oem struts, if you get "performance" struts, you're have way there, ($).
Bro, be patient, just save your money, do it right the first time.
You'll save money in the long run.

:2f2f:

Edit: Bro, 1 inch is STILL 4x4 status, IMO.

i would never chop or do asnything to my factory springs im not dumb lol i rather go the fright way. not the honda way :)

Although I mostly agree with what he just said, let me say this. When I first got my car and did my swap I was broke and rolling high like a 4x4. So while I was saving money to lower the car I ran across a set of used eibach sportlines for $100 and threw those on. They are some of the lowest springs for the s13. Still rode great and looked 1000 times better. So basically, don't do a hack job but keep an eye out for deals too.

Most people are telling you to save for coiuls but it isnt all about looks obviously. Just keep in mind its Pennsylvania and those hills with some unattended roads will annoy you or possibly hurt your car.

thats funny cuz my s13 on coilovers doesnt have problems with the PA hills

to the OP: save your money and just buy a good set of coilovers...there is no point to buying springs now than later on buying coilovers...just save up for coilovers and do it once

lol @ 100 a month. Ahh to be young again.

Just like everyone says man.. get the coilovers. It'll run you about 1000$ if you get a low-end set and you'll be golden. Slam the car as much as you want, and get some performance outta them.

that_one_coupe
01-19-2011, 04:27 PM
100 a month..idk but i was impatient when I was younger. I'd probably shell out like bill n a half for some used Tein lowering springs. You just wanna lower it though and with lowering springs it'll give you about a 2.5 inch drop. It'll have a nice-low but not a badass-low. If you have the patience for coils then I'd have to say coils

^^^ Save your money get a decent set of coilovers, my first 240 had lowering springs when I bought it and the first thing I did was buy coilovers. They make a huge difference, and its not worth wasting money on springs, and possibly killing your stock suspension because then you will have to replace it all anyway...

Also... Im not a fan of hondas either, but you dont have to make a comment about them in almost every post.... Just saying

lol its not me i dont notice it my phone n comp both have this thing where they add works and sometimes i dont pay attention. but also what coils did u buy. im lokking for a decent set nothing too expensive or too cheap

Your crazy to even consider buying blown coilovers.. HUGE waste of money.

Megan Racing Street Series Coilover Kit Nissan S13 (http://www.frsport.com/Megan-Racing-Street-Series-Coilover-Kit-Nissan-S13_p_2341.html)

Just buy those and get it over with. Cheapest coils I'd trust somewhat. I have PBM Coils, they cost about 1000$ but they are pretty stiff and I don't know if you'd like them.

i agree. springs and blown coilovers are a waste of money. OP just save your money. these megans will suit your needs perfectly. theyre adjustable to so if you decide 1" drop isnt enough you can go for 2 - 2.5" with ease. i had tien flex coilovers on my is300 and they were fantastic. i was able to adjust the ride height over and over to get it exactly where i wanted it and with the turn on an knob i could make it cadillac soft or rock solid.

my friend got tanabe springs for his is350 and now hes looking to sell them cause he isnt happy and he wants coilovers. just listen to the experienced people on this forum, save your money and buy coilovers

well your engine ecu is probably causing the bogging since it sees that there's a problem. and it could be lots of things. check to see if your ecu is throwing codes. thatll help you diagnose what the problem is.

and good deall coils are deffinitly the way to go. youll be much happy, car will perform better, and your car will be able to go as low as you want.
