View Full Version : n60, 370s, gt2871r set-up??

OK, i was reading a thread on here a while ago about running 370cc injectors with an n60 maf, and how they actually compensate for each other with not much tuning if any at all needed. I cant find that thread to go over all of the info and documentation proving this theory correct, so i figured that i would come to you guys.
If anyone has any experience or proof/data confirming or denying this, please step forward and share!
also, i was planning to run a gt2871r with this setup on 7-10psi and i was wondering if i could get some info from users with a similar set-up.
if you guys could please fill me in on your power #s and tuning solutions as well as base timing. i should be installing this setup within the next month or so.
I will be using an n60 maf, 370cc injectors, front mount intercooler, gt2871r 7-10psi, circuit sports turbo elbow/downpipe, tubular turbo manifold and blast pipe.
all on a ka24de engine with stock internals
thanks for any help,
-Vas

running that setup on a ka without a retuned ecu is a recipe for a blown engine. The n60 and 370's come close to balancing each other out but the ka ecu fuel and especially timing maps are to aggressive for turbo. Also 10psi on a 2871 will max those injectors out easily! a a GT28rs come close to maxing 370's at 10psi, so that one is worse
Just dont do it without some kind of tune if you want the engine to last, just spend $400 and get an enthalapy tuned ecu
i would do this 550cc injectors at LEAST, and a tune and 7 to 10 psi on that turbo should be 250 to 300 hp range

yeah, i was planning to run 7psi, and retarding base timing a few degrees in order to daily it before tuning it.

I agree with nismoman you should do a tune of some kind. Thats one of the most important aspects of a build...
and do the bigger injectors. With that turbo you will potentially push those injectors into a high duty cycle and if they go bad there goes your engine

at absolute minimal, you could buy an SAFC from someone on here for cheap and use it for your "limp tune" until you get an enthalpy or Jim Wolf, etc.

power numbers? boost level?
403hp/330tq 20psi
i also run JWT s3 cams and a greddy IM
its better to have more injector than having the injector being your limitation

understood. see, id like to have that much power, but i also am doing this on a stock motor and im only shooting for around 230-240 rwhp.
with that being said, is that power rating doable with the 370s, n60 and 2871r @ 7psi safely??

if your only looking to make 230-240rwhp keep the stock t25 turn it up to 14psi and put a fuel pump in the back of the car and call it a day...stock injectors and maf will be fine but at their limits with that power level
especially being on a ka it should be fun...but i know you can run that set up above on a sr not sure about the ka....im sure you will need a tune

370cc injectors are fine for 250hp. Just don't get greedy with the boost lol. In fact that whole setup is fine as long as you stay around 7 psi. But with a tune! Then later you can retune cheap. Enthalapy tune is like $400 and then like a bit over $100 for a retune when you upgrade injectors and stuff.

If all you want is 250/280 whp on a stock engine, put a T28 on it and call it a day. You'll need more injector than the 370cc and you'll probably be close to "max"ing (haha maxima) out the MAF anyway
Honestly the easiest route
STI Sidefeeds
Z32 Maf
Walbro 255 pump
Jwt or Enthalpy Rom Tune

370cc are NOT fine for 250 whp. Not at all. Unless you like running 20 year sidefeeds static that is.

i was going to run a t-28, but i can get the 2871r new for like $75 more brand new. dont ask where, cuz i cant say. so if i keep that turbo at 7psi, with the 370s and n60 maf, will i be maxing the maf or running the injectors static? im getting mixed reviews here, so im just trying to be thorough.

why not check into nistune?
good alternative compared to "tuned" ecu's.
simple and affordable, but still gives you basically full programmability through the consult port already in your car.

You're going to need to have the ECU tuned for the N60 maf regardless, so if you're already spending the money, you may as well put some larger side feed injectors in and be safe and ok.
You're only going to make 250-260 whp wit the injecotrs going to 100% duty (or close to it)...so at 7 psi you may see that with the 2871r...however let it be known that at 7psi the 2871 isn't going to be very efficient, and the stock turbo will probably be a 'more fun' car.
If you plan to eventually upgrade to larger injectors and boost, then by all means you'll be ok...but if you only EVER want to stay at the power you're at, the stock T28 (used ones are cheap) will be plenty.
