WOW! I didn't think that they would just give you the key like that. I know I tried to have one made for my gf's car, but they could only go back to 95 oh well. But thats cool that he caught him in the act.

happens ALOT to itR owners... if you ever see someone standing by your car writing down your VIN, then you know what hes about. alot of itR ppl cover it up or exchange lock/keys with each other to deter this kind of theft.

as for selling your car... its going to be damn hard to sell your car if you refuse to give out your VIN. if you do a carfax for someone but you wont give them the vin on the car and cross out the vin on the carfax report, how are they gonna know its not you scamming them? no win situation i guess.

Well, a month or two ago, i went to the acura dealer w/my bro and he asked if he could make a copy of his key. The desk guy told him that he needed a registration of the car to see if your the registered owner. The car is registered under my dad, so he had to drive the integra to the dealer to make a copy. The desk guy said it was a new law that only registered owners can makes copies of keys.

Hey this isn't a Honda/Acura forum :p But yeah A LOT of Acura dealers are getting wise to the ITR theft deal... my roomate has an ITR and has done almost everything you can do to secure the car from theft... I think it's sad that this kinda stuff happens to them... even had this garage bolt thing installed at our pad so you can't open his side of the garage after it's closed from the inside... what a nut!!!

well for my 90 and 89 240, all they needed was the key code that is located in the glove box, the vin number, and the licenese plate number, and they did not ask me if I owned my cars or not. An alternative is to show your registration and key code was required for years 89 and 90, I don't remember, but it was something like that.

Better keep those glove boxes locked up
