Ok, I wear wide size 12 shoes, and every time I try to heel-toe, I always get stuck. I can side-step it fine, essentially doing the same thing, but is there any reason that I should learn to heel-toe instead?

correct me if im wrong but side stepping is when you slide your foot over a bit so it presses on both the brake and the foot? if so then there no reason why you should learn how to heel-toe.

iirc, side stepping is the big footed mans way of heel toeing <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

whatever gets the job done the most comfortably...I have small feet, so heel-toe is pretty easy for me.

But can you brake as hard with side-stepping? I find I can't apply as much pressure to the brakes.
I also found it MUCH easier to heal-toe with my Del Sol.
the pedal positioning just seemed better. My thick rubber winter mat doesn't help though <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>

Well, at first I wasn't able to brake as hard, but after practicing it for a while (I usually side-step every corner) it just became second nature, and I was able to brake just as I could before.

I was under the impression "sidestepping" the clutch was releasing it quickly and getting right to the brake to burn out while not moving forward.
