Hi i have a 89 240sx with the ka24e i removed the engine to install a new clutch and rear main seal got everything back in and hooked up but i cant get
the motor to start and need help with what to check that would make
my engine not start from removing it. I have checked for fuel and spark and its getting both so it much be something that i missed when reinstalling everything but i just don't know where to start i have rechecked the wiring over more then a few times had the wiring harness labeled so everything is on right check the ecu for codes only code 55 came out witch means no error
the motor turns over but wont start it almost wants to fire but never does

Your getting fuel and spark? Are you sure? I don't think that's possible if the motor is turning over.

I took the fuel rail off and seen the injectors spraying fuel and
did the screw driver test on the plug wires maybe the spark plugs are
not firing tho

everythings back in kinda sums up the engine being in the car. if not the
engine and all wiring is installed in the car less sarcasm please.

it should start up, you didnt touch dizzy. hm you sure everything is plugged in. sounds dumb, but check all you fuses.

check your grounds and fuse b/c i recently took off my tranny and forgot to tighten a ground bolt causing my car to just crank until i tightened the bolt.

did you check your fuel pressure just because theres fuel coming out dosent always mean the fuel pressure is not low. you could have easily penched a line when putting the engine back in ive done it before.

If you reinstalled it and hooked up everything the way it was before you removed it it will start. We can't really help you on this. You reinstalled it differently if it won't start. Just gotta recheck everything.

There is a ground wire located on the head towards on the exhaust side back corner that must have solid connection or else it won't start. It is held on by a 12mm bolt. Usually this is where one would hook up the chain as lifting point during engine removal. This ground is essential because it is the main ecu starting ground. I had forgot to tighten it and took a few hours of head scratching and a friend noticed it. My timing was dead on. So it could be that if you timed it rght. If not then timing is wrong

Update. I realized you have a sohc and an easy fix is a Dohc

You need to find out for sure if you have spark. If your cranking over then you have sufficient ground. Check for fuses being bad

tested my spark plug wires with a multimeter and 2 of them are under the recommended the 6000 ohm and one was rotted and broke and one had no reading from meter i ordered
new plug wires sense no place around here has any in stock for a 240sx.

I changed the fuel filter the gas in it was dirty gray color. i check all my fuses long ago i have recharged my battery
so it has full voltage no wiring harness plug is not pluged in. One odd thing is when i connect my battery to my car
it use to spark kinda like when you hook jumper cables up but now it dose not. I also removed the AIV from my car
welded the hole on the lower header and blocked off the vacuum lines i don't think not having the AIV can make the car not start.
