isn't that what vtc is on the late s14/15 blacktops? and i'm pretty sure the vet came out way earlier.

VTC is adjustment of the cam's timing. A VET head actually has different profiles, just like a VTEC head.

The real SR20VET came in a 4wd suv and didn't have VVL on the exhaust side. The N/A SR20VE/SR16VE had VVL on both exhaust and intake. Pretty cool to hear them kick and at different RPMS. That head looks like the 1st gen VVL head.

VVL cam u can see that it's not like the normal SR

that engine swap is the same as doing an sr20det?
I've never heard of the vvl
nathanong87
01-08-2011, 01:20 PM
no the engine swap is NOT direct bolt in. the neo head came on sr20 motors which were transversely mounted (is that the right term?) like the same arrangment as the nx2000.
and the head is not a direct bolt on either.
if you are interested in doing the swap call up brian @ ma-m or google more.

The vtaks is fun :)
I seriously half throttle it up to 5 grand just to hear it sometimes... Its gratification.
The spinning tire at 80mph on the highway is equally awesome. Now that I've stopped being a pussy as upped it from 1000s to 1600s - I hope it will scare me.

wow,its funny how far along the vvl head swap is and still people dont know about it.
some more notable items are:
shaft mounted rockers (roller rockers)
much, much larger port size capable of flowing 400cfm @ .50lift
whereas an sr flowed out is only like 260 cfm after extensive flowbenching
dual cam profiles (vtec) mine for example sr20v camss 244 low 288 high i think
you can go on and on about this head.is it expensive, yes.is it badass yes!you can make 2jz power out of a 4cly with the same reliability if iron sleeved and built properly..

i've not seen 400cfm from a stock ve - the figure you're quoting was a 2mm oversized valve and ported @.550
stock they are usually where a moderate ported s13 head. 260ish @ 28
ross.cottrill
01-09-2011, 04:56 PM
nah,i didnt say stock.i was comparing well flowed heads of each, and a stock ve head flows more than 260 my man..theres a youtube vid of one doing a little over 300 cfm @.50
