Hey im in the process of saving up for an sr20det for my s13 coupe. I am going to upgrade my mounts for it and I was woundering if anyone knows anything about cusco engine mounts? I need to decide between nismo mounts or cusco but I can't find any info on them, also cusco's site is in Japanese and I can't read it. Is cusco's mounts just an OEM replica or are they srtonger? whats up.
Thanx for the info

I think there was a thread on mounts just a few days ago. IIRC it said that nismo were same as stock but stiffer, feel great and not too rough for street. Then someone mentioned UURAS (??) that were poly bushings that were insanely rough and not fun at all for street. I dono about cusco.
I say get URAS :) hehe

I want really stiff mounts not only because for the high hp and high rev shifts but also be cause I hear the B&M SS doesn't buzz as much with stiff mounts
Kid zelda would you say the cusco ones are stiffer then nismo?
I know nismo changes up the butt for parts but cuscos are like 100 cheaper and I really wanna know the difference befor I invest into either one
and dave where could I read up on uras mounts
thanx for the help

If you look carefully at the SR20DET, look at how the valve cover surface is not parallel to the oil pan. The engine is slanted toward the driver side somewhat for a "normal installation" and the oil pan bottom left to right should be level.
Whether this makes a big difference or not is yet to be seen but I certainly would want mine leaning toward the left (from drivers seat) as this is the way they are intended to mount. Also..as long as you have exhaust and turbo room on the left side..remember to have enough space for the engine to torque over both directions...I/E Downshifting and full throttle. Some movement is ok...just not alot. The key is to get the power to the rear wheels and not moving the motor and tranny side to side. Stiff is good...but too stiff creates shock on the drive line that can break things. Beefing up the tranny mounts help considerably.
As long as you have some room...and the mounts do dampen the shock going through the gears...that is what you want.

If you are looking to get rid of the shifter vibration why not check into a gearbox/shift dampener.

so what engine mounts would you recommend? you seem to know alot about mounts and I would really like your opinion? i guess I should get the nismos because they are only 30-40% stiffer. and I don't think that would be too stiff the break anything in the drivetrain. what do you think? thanx for the info alot

There's always the home depot route. Less than $10 and probably as stiff if not stiffer than the nismo's. I just got 2 tubes of construction grade polyurethane adhesive and basically filled in the layers on the stock mounts. Now the engine doesn't move, even with my slightly rough idle. It's great. Mine didn't come out too clean because I did it while they were on the car and it wasn't the easiest to get the caulk gun in the right spot all the time, but if you take them out you can do a pretty nice job if you're careful.
Basically, it's just a cheaper alternative.

Honestly I didn't see much difference between my old (perfectly fine) engine mounts and my new nismo ones. The SR engine will torque the mounts. I notice a little more vibration than before, but this could just be tuning.
I had a friend with solid mounts on a big block - having to retorque ever bolt on your car, every week sucks.
In summary, if you want really tight mounts the nismo ones will disapoint you. I bought them because they were cheaper than the stock ones at the dealer, and I had the engine out so what the hell... I might try my hand at making up a torque damper when I get some free time.
