ok i am turboing one of my automatic s13s just to see how long a new motor will last. I got myself a holset turbo with a 12x20 inch intercooler and hks bov. I am not looking for alot of horsepower, just enough to have some fun.It will be manual soon, i just want to drop the turbo in before hand. So since its going to be my first turboed car, how much psi should i be looking at to get the car atleast squealing its tires and enough to get me by for about a year to 2 untill i get the rest of the 5 spd setup or should i wait until I drop the 5spd in there then turbo it?

P.S. I read, but never gave me anything that gave me a choice thats why im asking.

well.
what injectors/ maf/ tune are you going to use?
i wouldn't go above 12psi at all.
you NEED a wideband a/f gauge.
let me repeat myself.
you NEED a wideband a/f gauge.
you NEED a wideband a/f gauge.
you NEED a wideband a/f gauge.
you NEED a wideband a/f gauge.
a turbo KA is all about the tune.
i hope you are not planing on just slapping on a turbo and running.
i would focus on piecing togheather a safe solid turbo kit.
turbo
injectors
n60/n62 maf
TUNE
TUNE
TUNE
WIDEBAND
bov
intercooler
wastegate
and i would recommended a boost controller.

and you can do this on the auto. but i mean im not sure it should take you 2 years to make it 5 speed.

since your looking at at least 300-400 bucks in turbo stuffs with that you could easly be 5 speed.

but im not here to change your time line.

best of luck :)

I got the whole turbo kit, i just need it tuned right with the new maf sensor, injectors, etc. I have been piecing a manual swap, all i need is clutch master cylinder, slave, crossmember and the pedal. The tranny i got comes with a shifter, the plugs and a stage 2 clutch.

What turbo kit did you buy? Or did you piece it together?

Do you have a wastegate for the turbo and also a manifold for the DE? You're also going to need to have an exhaust system that is either setup for the turbo you're planning on running or have one custom made. Do some research on here man, there's a lot of examples of people talking about their setups and approximately how much it all cost to put together.

Give us quality information so that others can benefit from this in the future too. What holset turbo do you have? Hy35, Hx35,He3455096889 or whatever.
What manifold are you using?
What downpipe are you going to use + What modification it needed to work.

Come on man..Please make this thread useful to everyone.

Hx35,t3flange on an lower turbo man, megan downpipe with elbow. What else you want to know? Its not complete yet since i need a different bov.Im looking at apexi safc, just dont know which one because theres so many choices out there. Im looking to run 7-8lbs of boost until i got enough funds to do a bottom/top end rebuild or full.

Im not putting the kit on the car until i can finish the 5spd swap.
