whats up people, so i have doing some research and found a pre 91 cluster for the s13 gets a different signal than a 92 or newer. my s13 is a 92 and not sure of the exact year of the redtop sr20. is there a way to check the cluster and motor? the problem is i get no tach, mph, and coolant temp. gas moves sometimes.
i was looking over the service manual and one of the the 10amp kick panel fuses are for the gauge meters. checke out good.
anyone?

i'm pretty sure its cause of the ka24de in newer cars vs the ka24e in older cars/cheaper models
between ka24e/de you look @ the redline, i believe. de redline should be higher

if you have a red top SR and a JDM cluster, providing its not from a CA18 it should work.
have you checked the "dash plug" to make sure its wired up correctly?

the plugs have not been messed with before. is there anyway to tell its from a ca18? im guessing not. im supposed to be getting one in the mail in the next few days. we'll see

MPH? If it's JDM, I doubt it will ever show MPH considering they use KPH.. so maybe your JDM cluster isn't so JDM and hence your problem in the first place.

that^
or red line
ca18 prolly has a lower redline than sr20's

by "dash" plug i mean the plug next to the blue ECU plug, it contains the wires for the Temp, Spedo, and Tach.

i think you have a pre 91 jdm cluster sir. pre 91 is only ca18 correct me if im wrong but i believe the sr came out after '90 and before this they had the ca18 which the sr replaced? but anyways..those are the exact issues my friend had with his jdm tach and it was pre 91 ca18det.

the plug that im refering to is the connection of the engine harness to the main wiring harness in the car. sorry i dont have a pic of mine but it can be found here.
SR20DET Swap Engine Harness Wiring Diagram Guide SR SR20 (http://www.frsport.com/SR20DET-Swap-Engine-Harness-Wiring-Diagram-Guide-SR-SR20_t_26.html)
it HAS to be rewired per this diagram for tach, speed, and water temp to work.
it is "figure 1" in diagram.
