I will soon be doing the 97-98 conversion to my 95. I understand that there are many posts about this topic, but i could not find any that would answer my problem. I looked at Grant's part list and came across a problem, or the parts guy at Nissan confused me... What exactly is the bumper reinforcement? It's not the radiator support that is welded to the frame, right? or is it that foam piece that sits right atop the actual bumper? I know that the nose of the 97-98 is longer, so what piece allows it to stick out more?
any help will be greatly appreciated...
thanks

I'm thinking it is the foam piece that sits behind the front bumper. Do you already have the headlights? I know a place that sells it for cheap. I got into a accident and had to replace my passenger headlight and clear corner. E-mail me Phoen-X (
[email protected]) for it.

If you take your bumper off, you will see a metal beam stretching across the front of your car. Your front bumper and grill mount to it in the middle. It is held on with two nuts and two bolts that connect just beyond the outside of the radiator support. You can get them from somebody that deals with Certi-Fit for about $100.:hammer:

I never heard anything of the support being different but yes the bumper cover itself is different. take your bumper off and you will see.

the bumper of the 97-98 sticks out more, and something is changed to help support it further. without it, the plastic would just hang... but i dont know.. i was told that if i were to get a fiber glass bumper, it wouldnt matter, because the fiberglass is naturally stiff. but i plan to get the japanese bumper, and so im not sure if i need get something to help support it up. i guess ill just try putting it on when i get it... haha and see how it fits..
