ok fellow zilvians, help me out here. im fairly new to turbocharged cars (this is my first one) ive driven them before and been around them quite a bit just never wrenched on them any. with that said take it easy on me if this is a nub question. okay on to the problem

i have a turbo'ed 95 240. it runs awesome minus a leaking valve seal thats about to get fixed. has a very good tune on it, no bogging, rough idling...you would think it came from the factory turboed. anyways its running on 8lbs of boost right now, on a conservative tune. i have a greddy bov that is located on the cold side of the intercooler...right at the corner of the car. anyways when i am doing hard pulls in the car it builds boost just fine. but when the car is idling and i rev it up in neutral, it never builds boost...the highest i can get it to read on my boost gauge is like 5 "hg"....it never goes into the positive side of boost, no matter how high i rev it in neutral. but like i said when im goin down the road and give it hell it builds boost just fine...all the way up to 8lbs like its tuned for, and the bov opens up just fine. this is normal right? for it to not build positive boost in neutral when revved? i just noticed it the other day when i was at my moms house and my little brother wanted to hear the bov open up cause it "sounds cool" haha...anyways i revved it up in neutral and nothing, no bov sound for my little bro lol. anyways any info you guys can give on the issue would be great, thanks

HAHAHA Sorry its funny

Thats completely normal, Depending on the size of the turbo you will really never build boost in "N" you might get 1-2 psi at the most

It will really only build boost under a load

So dont worry about it
