I was thinking today about what coilovers are made for this car. I work at a Toyota dealership and drive them all the time and theyre starting to grow on me.

We have one of those new Prius' at my job, installing and testing the new telematics unit on it... My first impression? They stole those headlights from the Maxima. No RWD? Me no care.

yes if it was rwd it would be awsome! but i would still drive this nice wrong wheel drive.

I don't think rwd could make the prius even remotely interesting, or less ugly

Doesn't putting bigger (heavier) wheels and nicer tires on a Prius defeat the entire purpose of buying a Prius to begin with? I thought I remembered hearing that one of the reasons they get good MPG is because of the low-resistance eco-tires and lightweight wheels. Might be wrong about that though.

I understand wanting to make it look nicer and all, but if you are going to sacrifice MPG, might as well not get a Prius.

true. but people in japan dont really care haha.im sure there is a toyota tech that could butt in here hahah. although i have heard that new pruises are true to what toyota claims in MPG i know that the old ones got only 32-34. but its all about how you baby it right? haha. but hell id be happy with that i only get about 250-275to a tank on my sr haha

Exactly what I'm thinking modding cars like the Prius or CR-Z seems like the most pointless exercise in the world.

I read that stock wheels are 14lbs and they have an aerodynamic cover on them that supposedly increases MPG.

still does not make me remotely interested in a prius

im not so sure on the "cover" because that they come with alloy rims.
well you could possibly increase the MPG..by increasing style!
lowering it would give it better aero. lighter rims (lets jsut say 16" te's) a better tire then stock, k&n intake and.. i think thats it.. haha

118MPG and still looks better than the prius even with all that aero shit.
If you want gas mileage it doesn't have to be with battery packs and the bore of driving a Toyota.

While i would never consider owning one of these, aside from the bag of dicks they chose for wheels, the one in the video isn't all that bad.

a better tire then stock

A "better" tire than stock would reduce MPG in the city because of more rolling resistance and maybe added weight.

If by "better" you mean lower rolling resistance and less traction, sure.

Ugly as fuck, a Prius looks way better than that. Also, if you think that car is going to be as "fun" to drive as a regular CRX, you are mistaken. Now if you want to get a standard CRX HF and put some decent tires and suspension on it, then yes, I guess it could be "fun" and still get 50mpg. But then the problem is, you are in a 25 year old POS with zero passing power, and even the Prius owner will laugh as you try to overtake him and fail.

Hah If you took my post as saying the CRX actually looks good then you would be incorrect, I just think it looks better than the Prius which is ugly as fuck. Who said I was talking about how fun to drive the CRX would be? I'm sure even with all that crazy shit its still more fun than a Prius, but that wouldn't be the point of buying the car now would it? And honestly when your 0-60 time on both cars is past the 10 second range who is honestly that worried about passing power? Then you can laugh at the Prius owner because he's making payments and you bought your shit for $1000

superbike81
12-22-2010, 02:21 AM
Actually the Prius is just under 10 seconds, the CRX HF is 12+.

But yeah, neither of them are for speed. But I would take a modern car with nice interior and modern safety features over an old POS Honda CRX.

I'm really not fighting for either of em but if you have a hard-on for the prius that's cool, just saying there are other options to make yourself look like a hippy

The Leaf is better in every way. End story.

superbike81

Unless you want to drive more than 100 miles in a day. In that case the Leaf is less than useless. It's a great car for city driving and short commutes, but if you have a longer commute or wanna go somewhere further than an hour away you are pretty much fucked. Or if it's a cold or hot day and you are stuck in traffic, then you only get about 60 miles. It takes 20 hours to charge unless you get a charging station installed in your house, then it takes 8 hours.

I welcome electric cars, I hope they completely take over hybrids and eliminate the internal combustion engine altogether, but for right now, we just don't have the battery technology to make them practical.
