View Full Version : Clunk in Rear - Have solid Subframe Bushings
Hi Guys, I'm trying to research a new clunking noise I have coming from the rear of my s14. I have stance solid subframe bushings, so no problems there. I recently swapped my diff for a j30 however. I've been reading alot and it seems like there is play in the driveshaft from other people's descriptions. My question is, considering that the j30 was most likely an abs car, and my s14 is non abs, could there be a length problem in the driveshaft causing enough room for play and causing the clunk? Is there any way I could make a spacer to fix the problem? I haven't found a solution for this & I'd like to get it solved for everyone else out there.

check the center support of the driveshaft. the rubber there wears out and causes it to clunk around.

No sapcer is needed, If you were using an ABS DS with a Non ABS Diff, Then you might need a spacer.
Only thing I could think of is if its a tight fit for the DS due to using an ABS Diff and Non ABS DS and if the Diff bushings have enough play then the DS front yoke might be slappin the back of the tranny.
Just a thought IDK
