ok, so i had my coupe for a while, did events, smashed fenders, blew the motor...

fast forward about 2 months

i bought this thing, bone stock from Zoltan.

after that, i got a pretty sweet deal on this body kit ( i havent installed the rear overs yet in this pic cuz the wheels weren't in yet) front are 25mm over and rears are 30mm over.

^thats the plan dude, haha. Im not much on explaining everything, but i take a lot of pictures, so i hope they can help explain.

For the record, the oil pan isnt on in those pics. i'm building a custom one but i need to raise the motor mounts about a 1/4 of an inch before i can start taking measurements for the pan. so thats the next step...

working on cutting out sheet aluminum panels to go around the fuel cell to clean it up a little.

i also started making my intercooler and radiator. they should be done this week and ill post pics.

So because the accessories of the 5.0 stick a mile off the front of the motor, i had to figure out what to do for a radiator and fans, so i took some measurements and decided to put the radiator underneath the radiator support instead of behind it. I needed a radiator of 16 inches tall, 26 inches wide and had the necks in the right places to work with the 5.0l.

I came across a 300zx aluminum radiator for real cheap, exactly 26 inches wide, but it was about an inch and a half too tall. Decided to buy it and just cut and weld it to fit. Worked like a charm!

Once that was done, I decided to get working on the intercooler. It came from a v-mount set-up so the inlet/outlet were on the top of the intercooler instead of on the sides like your average front-mount.

What im doing here is cutting the inlet/outlet off and using a hole-cut to make the holes on the sides of the intercooler to weld the inlet/outlet back on. The holes being cut out will be rewelded back to the top of the intercooler to close up those holes. Im gonna be making this a midmount setup, so its going to be right up under the radiator support along with the radiator for optimal throttle response and awesomeness.

i just pulled the housing out of the dash and traced it on cardboard. Then mocked it up to the cluster housing and trimmed it where necessary. Then traced that to aluminum.

so i had to figure out what to do about fitting the fan, radiator and intercooler as there was no way it was all fitting under the factory core support.

I cut the factory one completely out and threw it away.

My driveshaft came in on friday. It looks real sweet and i was told that it should have no problem handling my projected bower level. Also, you can see my unfinished oil pan chillin by a shitty bicycle..

Basically got the oil pan and pickup done, turbo oil feed and return lines done and motor mounts finalized and bolted in.

working on bolting up the headers and exhaust right now.

Im having the valve covers hydrodipped in some sweet print (you'll have to wait and see) and since i just got paid today, ill be buying my ecu, sensors and intercooler piping.

the exhaust from the other bank is going to be fed into the exhaust just before the turbo, then the pressurized air from the turbo will go through the intercooler, then into the throttle body that will feed all cylinders.

So I filled the trans with fluid Sunday night. No leaks at all and it seems fine.

Last night, I put the valve covers on, tightened them down and since that concluded the long block and all my oil lines, I decided to pour in my 7 qts of oil. Kept checking for leaks and about 5 minutes after pouring in all of the oil, i notice a drop on the ground... FML.

I jacked the car up and got a flash light to trace the leak. Turns out, there are 2 pinhole leaks in the welds of the pan that I must have missed when I checked it for leaks last time. This puts me in a pickle. I can either scuff the pan and get some crazy super duper high temp epoxy and patch it temporarily just to get me to ATL in 2 weeks, or I can drain the oil, drop the crossmember, remove the pan and reweld the pan when i have the car on the lift, but thats going to take like 5 hours away from other work that needs to be done...

let me know what you guys think..

so i took the oil pan off, fixed it and reinstalled it. no more leaks.

completed the full exhaust, all the way to the tip.

primed the oil pump, set the distributor and installed the plug wired with heat resistant boots.

finished all the intercooler piping completely, just need some couplers and clamps.

now here's the bad news: I put fuel in it and went to prime the pump. i saw that the pump was leaking fuel. I took the pump off and started replacing the seals in the pump when i went all butter fingers and dropped the pump to the ground at about 4 and a half feet. It cracked wide open... theres no repairing it.

after bumming real hard at the fact that i need a 400 dollar fuel pump for the night, i contacted my rep at Assaultech and he's getting me an A1000 aeromotive pump overnighted and i'll have it tomorrow.

Just a quick update.

my daily has been giving me a bunch of issues so I haven't really had time to work on the racecar. Well yesterday i got a chance to pick up some piping to relocate the wastegate, some AN fittings and a custom high pressure stainless line for the power steering. I'm going back to the shop today to finish up the power steering and the wastegate should be done by late this week early next week. I also got a retune on the ECU since the previous tune ran way too rich.

after that, i should be ready for dyno and tire shredding. I'm signed up for an event on october 28th, so thats my new deadline.
