If you can find it a theater near you, take your lady and go see it.
She will think you're great for taking her to see a movie about ballet, and will quickly be clutching you shoulder because she's scared, and really you're in for a mind fuck thriller (with the added bonus of a Natalie Portman + Mila Kunis lez out scene).
I left the theater confused and horny, and really that's all I can ask from a movie.

Yup, it's much better than any other movie out right now.
A true piece of cinema, not some money grabbing piece of shit sequel.
I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Saw it opening night with my lady friend. She's a dancer, so she wanted to she it, but I'm a giant Natalie Portman fan, so I wanted to see it too. I was surprised, though, to see not only Mila Kunis but also that badass French dude who used Capoeira to get past the laser field in Oceans 12.
I must say: Never in life did I ever think in a million years that I would be scared of ballerinas...:eek3:

I like the director's (darren aronofsky?) previous work a lot.
the themes of obsession are always intense, if not also moving.
however, I'm just not a huge fan of natalie portman, but then again she plays the same boring roles all the time.
maybe this will be a pleasant surprise.
i'll go watch this anyways, there hasn't been a lot of decent films in the past two years anyhow.

This movie is fucking incredible.
Darron aronofsky (sp?) is a master director and this is one of his best. I love how his films deal with obsession bordering on/leading to insanity. His visual style is fantastic and can shock you right out of your seat. Perfectly cast (especially Portmans mother) and shot, so far one of the top films I've ever seen.
And yes there's a chick/chick scene, but the film would be incredible even without it.

Yea the casting was really good. If you like this you would probably like a film called jacob's ladder with Tim robbins. I forget who directed it but it has a similar trippy visual style. Also a very good film.

Just went and saw it and was actually a little disappointed, overall wasn't as great as I expected. Think I just went in with my expectations too high, still a good movie though. Mila Kunis/Natalie Portmain scene was phenomenal though.

just got out of a matinee showing with some girls i knew that wanted to see it, since all my macho guy friends couldn't be bothered with a movie about ballerinas, no matter how much i told them it wasn't really.
wow, aronofsky again delivers a very suspenseful and compelling dive into the human condition of obsession. Portman was amazing teetering on the brink of madness trying to deal with her own demons while trying to be what everyone else wants her to be.
and lol at going to an early matinee and hearing the gasps from the old ladies behind me who thought this was a simple ballerina movie. the les scene almost made them leave. after the movie ended i got up, turned around and said, "well ladies, bet you weren't expecting that at all!" they nervously chuckled as they grasped their rosaries and proceeded to repent for what they had just witnessed.
9.5/10
If you are a fan of Aronofsky you will LOVE this movie. Goes right next to Requiem for a Dream in my DVD collection when it is released.
so not a chick flick? a few girls I know really want to see it.

not even close to a chick flick. granted i went to a 10am showing but i was one of 2 guys in the theatre. the rest were young girls, who all looked like they wanted to be ballerinas and old ladies, who looked like nuns who loved ballerinas. the gasps and oh my lords that erupted from the theatre when the girl from that 70's Show (Mila Kunis) goes down on sweet innocent Natalie Portman had me literally laughing out loud. im actually surprised that none of them left the theatre. amazing movie though.

Went and saw with Aya on tuesday. I thought it was great. Not sure if I would label it a chick flick. Its fucking amazing. Aronofsky keeps you glued to the screen with all the twist and turns. Definitely some twisted people and a twisted plot and the music was great.

haha i saw this mind job last week. EXCELLENT movie. There were a few scenes where i literally laughed out loud when nobody else did and i'm sure they're the same scenes you guys laughed at. hahaha In all seriousness though, very well done film. Intense...to say the least. Definitely not a chick flick. How Aronofsky brings to life the concept of battling inner demons, insecurity, insanity, etc. is nothing short of amazing.
And yes, I too left with a heightened libido and a strong sense of what the fuck.

it is actually a dark twist on the classic Swan Lake. Natalie portman is a long time ballerina who wants to nab the lead role. constantly practicing, constantly puking after each meal to obtain the unobtainable perfection. you watch as she slowly goes crazy as she obsesses over every little detail. the director of the Ballerina troupe is trying to get her to relax and open up to become more desirable for the role. Mila kunis's character is brought in to become her understudy which in her madness she concludes that Mila is trying to steal her spotlight. Throw in on obsessive compulsion to scratching, and an overbearing mother and you have a recipe for cinematic brilliance. i tell anyone who will listen to me to watch this movie. it is hard to describe, it simply must just be watched. GO WATCH THIS MOVIE!
