Here's a couple of pics of my base sway bar off of my '89 hatch versus the hicas bar that I picked up for it. To say that it's a little bigger is a slight understatement.

Yep...
Nice, but its still hallow.
Truth be told though, I didnt feel THAT much gain from my Whitelines over my stock Hicas bars.

I was under the impression that sways were the best bang for the buck suspension part you could get.
So..they really don't make that much of a difference, becuase i have been looking into them lately?

Well, they do help. Even compared to the HICAS bar. I was just saying that it didnt make as much of a difference when I out them on my 91 SE Hatch vs my 91 HICAS Hatch.
Are they worth $200? Definitely. Id get Addco or ST this time around though.

That's why I didn't get the Adjustable one in the rear.
Even though... IMO the adjustable end links are that bad if you install them correctly.

I don't see how that could be.. they endlinks on the rear are almost identical.
I think it's easier to adjust how the car feels using the rear adjustable bar, than the front.
2 things.. did you overtighten the links in the rear?, and did you install with the car at ride height. I put mine on with a set of ramps. I honestly can't see how you could overtighten the bushings with the metal sleeve in the center, since your tightening the washer against those sleeves, and not the bushing itself.

nah
whiteline is a L shape
stock is a I shape
most japanese aftermarket sways (largus, cusco, tanabe) use a I shape like stock.
my friend yeswepromise has cusco, i examined it. sil80mania has tanabe, i checked it out quickly
largus, ive seen their setup on various drift machines
I used the stock endlinks in the rear. Im sure if I bought some aftermarket ones it would improve them some.
hookedup240. Get the fronts first, see if you like it, if not get the rears too.

hmm... My car is so stiff anyways, It makes it hard for me to see big differences in the car when I make swaybar adjustments.
You guys got me wondering now.. ARRG.. Might have to check out the cusco rear bar.
But, I'm not having any problems.. Here is a pic from lowes.. kinda small and crappy, but VERY little body roll

So do you guys just suggest going w the hicas for best bang for the buck? How much does one usually go for?
Shah
They go for about $20-$70, it just depends. I would suggest getting a aftermarket bar. Stock bars are hallow, and by now half are rusted.

I love how the swaybar argument comes up every two weeks. I think I even started one a few months ago.

Hey guys, not to get too off topic here, but does anyone make a light swaybar for the front? I'm asking because I just installed the ST bars on my '96 and noticed that the front bar is about 5x as heavy as stock... that thing is porker! I know its heavier because its obviously a solid bar vs. stock, but I don't remember the aftermarket 1" solid front bar on my old 240z weighing so much... Did you guys with whiteline bars notice any excessive weight? How about the cusco or tanabe bars, they better be made of lighter material.. considering the $$$ cost on those things. I just hate adding "performance" parts that make my car heavier damnit, although its almost unavoidable with swaybars.
BTW, my base model s14 loves the ST bars. Obviously going from no rear bar to this setup feels great... I'm already getting jaded on it though... needs to be stiffer!

89, SX/SE Performance option.
My Rear sway bar is huge and I don't have HICAS. What gives? Was the 89/mine blessed this way?
Front one is a monster too, no mention the original owner changed them out..and I have tons of receipts for meaninless stuff.

I think if you cannot afford to purchase whiteline bars you should probably be looking for other ways to improve the car. Tires come to mind
If endlink design is such a concern, why are people settling for stock non-adjustable endlinks with rubber bushings over adjustable solid rod-ends?
