Just got some circuit sports arms from the black friday sale.

Some of the welds just dont look right to me, maybe I am wrong I am pretty much a noob at these things. Ok....let the pics do the talking...

Toe arm questionable area...

Here are the RUCA's...seems like some one missed some of the powder coating and tried to cover up with a sharpie!!!!

I dont mind the powder coating much ( I can just touch it up myself) just wondering if these welds are strong and ok to be driven in....or should I sent them back?

any input would be great, thanks in advance

I would 1) not drive on those and 2) send them back... shitty coating and welds

Hahaha, sharpie.
Well, even though the welds look ugly, if they got good penetration it should be okay.

Yes i know.....SHARPIE!! :mephfawk:

The welds do look like boogers but i dont mind it that much....the truth is i really dont care much about the cosmetics, its something that i am not going to see. I can touch it up with some paint so it wouldnt rust.

What worries me is how are these welds going to hold up, how can i tell if the welds have good penetration?

What also worries me is the toe arm pic, seems like the "pocket" of weld is not all "filled up"

maybe its all cosmetics, if thats all it is i am ok with that....

PS...i am a total noob when it comes to spherical bearings, some of the bearings are in different angles, of course i couldnt move them with my hands....will they straighten / move once its installed on the car?

thanks again guys

The bearings are stiff because they are low quality, I guess once you bolt on that side you'll have enough leverage to move them around.

The welds will probably hold though.

If you have to think about running it, I wouldn't do it.

Have you ever felt Aurora bearings?

Razi

No, but I have QA1 bearings on my arms, and have felt Godspeed bearings.
I had to use a screwdriver to get any leverage to move the Godspeed bearings, QA1s are smoother and can be moved by hand.

You know, I just can't tell from these pictures.

Could you take some BIGGER, BLURRIER pictures for us to look at?

:ddog: :ddog:

Find the Macro button on your camera, and don't waste money on anything but SPL arms in the future. Yes, there are other good arms out there, but you can't go wrong with SPL Parts.

send em back. those welds look like shit. theres a lot of pitting and i bet if you threw them under and xray they would have hella imperfections. not to mention that crack. send them back.

once they are on you car and after a week of driving, it dont matter what they look like cosmetically after that., so the whole perfecting the powder coat thing doesnt really mean much.

But if your uncomfortable with the welds, then by all means look into alternatives, another batch would probably be the same thing since they would be turned out from the same place.

never judge a weld by its looks.

Dont waste your time installing them, just save yourself the trouble plus liability and return them. I had CS in the past and they were not any where near as bad as the ones you got.

never judge a weld by its looks.

are you fucking kidding me? a pitted, porous, ugly ass weld won't ever be any where near as good as a nice consistent weld.

I use welders at school all day, there are kids in the class who lay beads like champs, nice solid and consistent, and there are those who go all over the place and cant keep it solid for shit. Same welder, same gas, same wire, same conditions. I wouldn't doubt the solid weld to hold up better than the shitty porous weld.

That's what that weld looks like, porous and as if they had to put a bunch of tack welds over the spots they missed

Dude, what do you expect. Its a cheap brand, so there will be cheap quality. You get what you paid for, just my 2 cents.

I personally think the welds look sketchy, I wouldn't run them.

"Hey guys, this looks like shit! I mean fucking horribly crappy! I don't think it looks safe at all.

They did a crappy job and I'm pretty sure I might die running them.

...

I think Imma put them on my car."

You answered your own question like 4 times.

It's not worth the money taking a chance on shitty parts, getting the car aligned only to have the shitty parts fail on you.

Then you gotta take the time to get a tow truck or fix it there on the spot. (Time = money)

then REALIGN the car (or eat through you tires, up to you)

Think about it in the long run. Don't run that trash.
