KYB GR2 are stock replacements. Nothing more nothing less. They are NOT a performance oriented shock.
Make your own decision based upon that information.

Are they really OEM replacements? I thought they were performance shocks competitive with Tokico's HP gas shocks (blue, nonadjustable). Unless you consider Tokico HP to be OEM replacements too......

Tokicko HP's are little better than stock replacement, in all reality.

GR2's are (I suppose) KYB's answer to Tokicko HP shocks, insofar as neither of them offer any adjustment and both of them have close to stock valving.

Does the same apply for koni reds? I'm on AGX, don't really care too much, just wondering.

I went from stock springs and struts to KYB GR2's and Eibach pro-kit on my 95 SE. I noticed a huge difference in handling and would highly recommend them, but if you have the money you should go ahead and spring for the AGX.

I feel s14white240 and muzzy's feeling changed dues primarily to the spring change, not because of the shock. The G's are listed as OE replacement in the Pep Boys catalauge (being that I work there)

Opt for the AGX's. I grabbed them with H&R Sport springs, and am happy as a pig in ****.

NOW, if your shocks are bouncy as a mofo and getting on yer nerves, but your tapped and cant afford performance, get the G's

i have a brand new set of gr2's on the coupe. Yes they are stock replacements, they work well with stock springs. new boot kit is pricey though.

NO! I wouldn't get used shocks in the first place. They might be in good shape and they might not, but I like the peace of mind in buying new struts. And there it is, 2 more cents from me...umm...now go get some struts.

here's a question..

i'm not really interested in buying GR2s or anything but... if you WERE to install them alongside lowering springs, would they last longer than stock shocks (i.e. can they handle more loads without blowing 'cause of quality, etc)?

It might depend on how you drive but I got my 240 at 109,000mi and the stock struts were still good, for a while at least. Someone else on this board had KYB AGX and it only lasted about a year, but he did put them through a whole season of auto-x.
