View Full Version : need help brake lights stay on

My brake lights stay on even when the car is off all other lights are off keys are not in the ignition i tried resetting the ecu taking out the battery plugs then put them back and still on its draining my batt any help please

its the brake pedal switch

I had this same Issue, There is a little Rubber Plug that fits on the Brake pedal Switch, with our cars being old that rubber piece goes bad and falls off, which causes your lights to stay on. its like a $5-$6 part from the dealership. If that isn't the case then the switch could be bad.(its a pita to put on so have patients.)

had this happen in my datsun, I taped a water bottle cap to the pedal :)

Lol. I used a bolt and silicone seal. Works allright.

I used a short bolt and put a nut on the other end. Never will it come off.

did you guys take out the console to get to the switch? cause im like bending my body all over to get the penny in there haha

Open the door and lay down with your back facing the ground and your feet sticking out of the door. Worked for me and I have a fixed seat.

haha yeah thats what i did shit was painful but it is hard to get a screw in there with a nut

What I did was I pressed the brake to give me more room to put the screw in and then just put the nut on. It wasn't too hard, took only a couple minutes and I didn't remove anything.
