Ok, ive seen the diys on this. What i want to know is can you still pull everything out without removing the fan shroud? Second can you keep the a/c electric fan after you remove the whole a/c system or will it not work after that? BTW, a/c doesnt work now thats why i want to remove it.
Let me know if this can work, i know how to undo everything i just need to know if i can keep the electric fan where it is. The location of the electric fan is infront of the clutch fan.Is the locations different for each car because my friends s14 has the a/c fan infront of the car.

Do you have another car to drive? If not then why not spend the effort to fix it? I know I just moved to Michigan from NC and I would never deal with a car without A/C and most of the girls I've taken on dates wouldn't deal with it either haha.

To each their own maybe? I personally have never liked AC, even on boiling hot days. I love a breeze...all windows down!!!!
I took mine out recently actually. It's pretty hard to do it with the fan shroud still on so your going to have to remove it as well as the clutch fan (for now).
Follow all the lines leading to the firewall and remove them there. Then remove them from the pump. You'll also need to remove the belt obviously. There is an adjusting arm that pivots the AC pump that will allow you to loosen the belt, it's pretty self explanatory once you take a look at it and realize you need to just loosen 2 bolts.
Remove that entire unit from the block (including the bracket that it bolts to - to the block)
Once all that's gone your next step is pretty much getting rid of the condenser. You'll need to pull the rad towards the motor or remove it entirely to get the condenser out without damaging anything.
Remove all the clips/wiring that goes to them and your done! There are a few wires tied directly into the harness that sits under the upper rad support. Because I sold my AC components I just cut them out and sealed them off safely.
Hope that helps.

thanks martino, but i said i know how to remove everything, no one answered any of my questions. Not mad, just curious why everyone is so hyped on the a/c.The guy who likes to have no a/c, i like him.As they say, "great minds think alike."
I just want to know if i can keep the a/c fan in place without having to completely removing it? I want to be able to keep the a/c fan and clutch fan, thats it. What do i need to do to keep the a/c fan or can i just remove the whole a/c system without the fan?

If you remove the A/C you have no use for the A/C fan. Just take it out too.

Just to put it out there, you could shed more weight for your super JDM tyte drift car by skipping McDonalds once a week.

the oe ac condenser fan is controlled by the thermoswitch mounted in the coolant return hose (radiator outlet). the ac pump, lines and condenser have nothing to do with the fan itself.. although the relay control power COULD be controlled by the AC switch, but thats an easy bypass for anyone with decent electrical knowledge of how relays work.
i dont really like AC on the S13, but I wouldnt go so far as to say its useless.. it has its uses but some people prefer empty engine bays (me) and others prefer the convenience. if you work on your own car, you probably dont like the additional clutter.
furthermore, you may want to remove the stock fan and shroud.. you gain a LOT of room by going with quality electric fan + relay setup. again, key word QUALITY. too many people cut corners using shitty electric fans with no knowledge of wire gauge, relays, etc.

^^ True, but at that point, what good is the A/C electric fan serving? If you remove your A/C system from your car, whether you put on electric fans or you keep the clutch fan, you've remedied the electric A/C fan useless. Granted you can easily wire it to still work, but is it needed? Or is it just another piece of equipment that's just there for no reason?

Douglasville, GA? You on 240atlanta? I live in Douglasville sadly myself now too.
But anyways, I took all the a/c shit out of my coupe when I first picked it up in AZ. Pretty straight forward. I took the fan shroud off if I remember right just to make it easier to get into everything. I don't think you'd have to have to, but why not? A few 10mm bolts/screws and its out of your way. I took the compressor out from under the car, so the shroud shouldn't really get in the way if you did want to leave it in. As far as the fan, I believe it's activated by the a/c kicking on if I'm remembering that right as well. I always just took them off, but I'm sure you could wire it to a switch if you wanted to keep it, or put a new fan relay setup on it.
Hit me up if you need some help or anything man.

im not on 240atlanta, never will. Ok, now im limiting that option as a last resort.
What does it take to keep the a/c but remove the clutch fan?

whitey, i know how to remove it, ugh i have posted it many times i know how to remove it, its wiring an electric fan i suck at. Ive had no electrical knowledge, but watching someone do it to my car makes it easier for me to understand how the wiring works. I cant read the schematic blueprints of wire diagrams if i tried, Its easier when explained.Im not 100% perfect when it comes to cars.DIYs seem to help on certain things and i usually ask questions regarding it to get a simpler explaination. The only wiring ive ever done ever since ive gotten a car was rewire my speakers, period.
But i think ill hold off on the a/c removal for now unless i can remove the clutch fan and still use my a/c that would be awesome.

Oh ok. Just asking. I moved here and heard of the site and have met some ok guys off it. Mostly cheap, whiny kids. Where in Douglasville do you live/what do you drive?
But anyways, why are you wanting to get rid of the clutch fan setup? Generally unless you're putting out big power, it cools more effectively than any aftermarket fan setup. But if you really want to get rid of it, you need a good fan relay/fan setup.

You can easily remove your clutch fan and shroud and install a nice set of flex-a-lites with the proper relay set up or even a DIF fan control (which has really nice instructions with it) and run A/C and electric fans using a unit like that.

like i said, i dont know how to wire it, just how to remove it. I live in twin creek apartments in douglasville, if you wanted to know. Im currently with my parents up in suwanee visiting until christmas. They cant seem to do things without my help:smash::rofl:. I drive a 91 automatic hatch with a nice N1 style tsudo exhaust or someting, i forgot what it said on the tip, but its a 3 inch all the way to the stock downpipe. Its got nothing fancy, im saving for some good rims so i painted the stock ses black. I might paint the lip gunmetal. It also has intake and a shitty broken cd player that ate my cd and will only play my mp3 player by aux from the back. It will be manual whenever i get the money. THe paint on some parts are oxidized to hell so ill be getting a paintjob soon, Whitey. I need a goddamn front lip yo. Im not home depoting it. I think my plans are to lower it then turbo it, or the other way around.

Does the S13 use the AC fan for overheat protection like in the S14?

Well the clutch fan would serve more purpose then the A/c fan. Remove the whole setup and get a set of Flex fans man. For the wiring you could go legit and buy the relay's/ controller. But, since you said the wiring would be a problem all you need to do is run power to both fans and you could have them constantly running, hell you could even wire in a switch that is mounted in your interior. No matter your knowledge on wiring, running power to a switch then to the fans is straight forward man. Power from bat to switch, power from switch to both power on fans, ground fans with the other wire on them, then ground switch.

No, they only use it in those terms if the compressor is engaged, its ran through the extra brown relay in the main box. Its almost like the S14's wiring wise, it just has to have the compressor engaged to turn on.
