Ok so my friend said hed hook me up with a paint job at his shop all i need to do is buy the paint

Now i want to paint my car a 350z gunmetal grey color EXACTLY like this sil80 ( nissansilvia.com/forums/uploads/monthly_03_2008/post-34191-1204632126_thumb.jpg )

Wheres a good shop/internet site to buy that type of paint? Or do i just have to order it from my local nissan dealer?

Thanks for taking the time to read, if you have any advice let me know.

lol local nissan dealership? dude your funny.... what your asking is a little vague , what kind of paint are you looking to buy? single stage? base coat clear coat? whats your price range? where are you located? these things would help us point you in the direction your asking to go.
ill go ahead and make my recommendation on what i feel will be your best product and finish for the best all around price , dupont chromabase and a nason clear. with the chromabase paint, your color will match much better and if you have to repair or repaint anything it wont be too much of a hassle matching the paint. nason clear is basically the same as the dupont clear coat its just sold has duponts lower line. this clear polishes out very very nice and will last for years. im not saying that either of these paints are the best but this is what i like to use for the best price/quality... this combo will run you around 500$. its your car so you have to figure how much the paint job is worth to you, if you opt for cheap cheap paint it might come back to bite you in the butt in a year or so. basically you need to ask you painter what hes comfortable spraying with( brand of paint and system.. single stage , base coat clear coat )

i wouldnt do black primer, it will cause your color to come out darker unless the paint color calls for a darker undercoat. you can contact and local auto paint store and they can tell you what color primer you should use to get that color your after.

I'm no paint expert, but WHY? wouldn't that make you need more paint to cover it? and i think it would make it look dull.

Google your city and PPG and see what places come up, go there.

yes you are somewhat right, darker primer will take more paint to achieve the color but some colors call for a darker substraight but most of them call for a 3 on the primer color range which is grey.. the brighter the color the lighter you want your primer and the opposite is the same. ppg is a great brand (i am a certified ppg technician) but i think from my experience that the dupont system is easier to use and price is a bit better

autoparts stores such as napa & some others can do color matching, if you can provide them with the color code
