is this post serious? ITS A CLUTCH FAN, IT PUSHES AIR AND MAKES NOISE AS IT DOES SO. Stop bitching about stupid insignificant things.

replace it - happened to me to , the higher my revs went - the louder it got, because it spun with the motor. Like s13bdafocker said, it's seized. a few screws to come off - j yard that mess easy fix dude.

If the fan itself is still in good shape, you can just pick up a new clutch at Advanced Auto, Autozone, etc, etc.
I noticed (many moons ago) that my fan was getting increasingly louder. I replaced the clutch, and everything was better. As I recall it was not very expensive, and fairly easy on the labor aspect.

aside from being annoyingly loud, a siezed clutch fan robs the engine of power, stresses the belts and wears out the h20 pump faster...so it's not insignificant.

hmm, kinda hijacking this thread but... i had a seized clutch, replaced it with a napa one and its still kinda loud. (you can notice it pretty easily standing outside the car with the hood closed)
Is there anything else to reduce the noise? My shroud is still there, but i took 2 notches out of it so i could get the fan out when i replaced it, notches are no bigger then 3 inches across. I notched it cause the damn shroud wouldn't unclip without breaking, and i wanted to keep it.

actually you are wrong. the clutch fan pulls air instead of push. how can you design a clutch fan pushes air the opposite direction of the airflow from the front of the car? my clutch fan on both cars never make noise.
to the op
i had the issue on my sohc. my sohc was overheating because the clutch fan went out and it was loud when i drive it. then i replaced it, wasnt that hard bought it off from kragen/o reily for $45 tax included. life time warranty also.
