Ok nobody take offense to if you have this shitt on your car.
this is rice to me.
-Stickers on your car for parts you don't have
-led winshield washer fluid thingys
-tacky neon (some neon looks good but some go overboard)
-aftermarket different color whinshield whipers (even worse when they put just one big one on their cars)
-strobe in the car
-Altezza style lights(this is a matter of opinion but I'm not a fan)
-aluminum spoilers (this is a matter of opinion but I'm not a fan)
- Any type of rebadging of a car to something it is not. examples: Type R on non-Type R Integras, SiR on non-SiR Civics, DOHC on cars with SOHC engines, Acura emblems on Hondas.

- One can argue that putting a Honda emblem on an Acura is acceptable since all Acuras are Hondas back in Japan, but putting an Acura emblem on a Honda is just plain ricey.

- Corvette Z06 wheels on a regular C5 Corvette .. this would be domestic rice, commonly referred to as slaw. Another example of slaw would be putting a Saleen sticker on your Mustang that is in no way, shape, form, or fashion a Saleen Mustang.

You can't really define rice by what looks good or not, because that's a matter of opinion - peoples' tastes are different.

What do you all think it rice is?
This should be a fun topic

peace

You think the LED washer things are rice? Ive been wondering about that...

As for aluminum wings, i think they only look good on certain cars...on some, they just look stupid.

Yeah you got it perfectly. I just wish we could explane that to all these idots that watched "Gay and the Curious" and now want to make their cars "LOOK" fast with stickers! ughhhhhhhh

i agree with everything but the Z06 wheels on a normal corvette. wheels are wheels. i have 91-94 7 spokes from a DOHC on my 90 SOHC. it's probably not as big of a deal compared to a corvette guy changing wheels like that, but what if a guy with a normal corvette bought used Z06 wheels very cheaply because the guy with the z06 was selling his??

aluminum wings... ewww... Last night i saw an RX-7 that was in pretty nice shape. Except for the miserable aluminum airplane wing on the back that looked like it was installed by an epileptic

"im gonna put a carbon wing on my 240. its kinda big but not 747 huge. plus its purely for the downforce"

You only need a wing like that for downforce if your going like 180 all the time. Those wings do nothing but add weight

I saw an MR2 turbo with a sweet spoiler. He somehow rigged up a couple soleniods to raise the wing at a certain speed or with the press of a button. It was real similar to the Porsche 911 Turbo wing, looked like a small lip spoiler at first, then it goes up about 4 inches.

I think rice is what I think is tacky. Period.

At any rate, it's the owners car and we all have different standards of tacky. My only caution is that if you want an opinion or advice, be prepared for honesty.

No offense to anyoby but I think this is a stupid topic to be talking about all of the time. If people want to put all those things on their cars let them. Defining this type of car as "Rice" just seems so old.

stop it w/ the rice topics already! Who really cares about rice? Just do what you want to do to your cars and what you like and let other people do the same. Now i admit there is a point were you say "that's one ricey piece of $4!t" but i'll leave that up to the person's own judgement. But seriously.. who gives a shit?

There was a bright orange civic 4door with a big aluminium wing on my tail the other day. It had stock exhaust and stock hubcaps...I think thats pretty ricy. I was happy to show him my cornering abilities at the upcomming exit ramp tho...he didn't mess with me after that. I guess he heard my tires singing happly 2/3's of the way around that big ramp (my tires suck, I wasn't actulaly going that fast) and realized that I could just kick his ass  I hate ricy cars. And I think theres a big difference between a show car with no go and a riced out POS...BIG difference.

i got a carbon fiber hood. my friend said it's ricey, but when you lift it up and weighs 28lbs less, so there is function in it ... also, I have a black car, so it blends

I also have a '95 "silvia" emblem on my '97 240sx.

I disagree with the Z06 rims as well, but I'm not a corvette guy, so I don't know their culture. But if someone put SE rims on a Base model after a 5 lug conv, I wouldn't say nothing. In fact, someone in my local club already put S14 SE rims on his S13. looks better on S13's than on S14's... oooh, someone put some S15 Spec R rims on their ride... let the flames begin

i think that rice is this food that most asians eat with many a meal. you cook in a rice pot and goes good with soy sauce. also can be prepared fried with vegtables and served with lemon chicken. yum. i'm not tryin to be a smart ass (wait, yes i am) but i'm gonna have to go with the "get what you like" opinion. i don't like 9 ft wings, some do, but unfortunately, i don't own everyone else's car

<sarcasm> Will a bag of rice in the trunk of my Civic hatchback help to get traction?? </sarcasm>

Ah... just for the #### of it....
Rice: Drifting, and the whole drift style of cars. If you look at it, the real drifter cars are always the ones with cheap ass body kits, too many stickers, and as many ghetto parts as you can find. They're all NASCAR wannabe's anyways (see my thread for explination).
