Yo guys whats up?

Just wondering what is better.  I have a 90 f/b with two 10" pioneers.  I was just doing some stuff with my amp, (doing some soildering and making a switch that was on the board of the amp, into a wire and a switch on my dash.)

But i was just wondering if you guys had any personal preferences of what direction the subs faced.

thanks
mike

right now, i had to face my 12w3 up but on a slight angle..

i think i'd like to geta good pair of tens and face back though...

or a sweet pair of audiobahn 10 and face one in each direction

i honestly can't tell the difference sideways, facing up, towards the front, towards the back
its that omnidirectional thing

u will notice the most rattle in the direction u point it most likely, that has been my experience with friends cars with subs.. poin them toward you, that way ur hatch latch won't rattle quite as much <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Point them up or to the rear. Pointing them toward the seats will muffle them. If you get two with seperate boxes, point them each at each other sideways. That's the way to get the most out of them. If you're worried about rattling, get some dynamat and fix the rattles. Don't just muffle the sub by pointing it toward the seats.

Mine points inside, but the seat is down when I use it.

Almost every car I ever been in has sounded better with subs facing back toward the rear. &nbsp;I could tell a huge difference in my old car.

face them backwards...the sound reflects off the glass hatch....and it sounds better up front. &nbsp;Just make sure everything is bolted down tightly...and that you license plate is bolted with FOUR bolts...or it will rattle.

i point it to the back. &nbsp;i dont have a hatch so i cant do that bounce of the glass crap. &nbsp;only thing is my license plate rattles. &nbsp;gotta get some of that dynamat

If your license plate still rattles..and you have all four bolts holding it in, try getting some rubber washers (2 per bolt....one in front of the plate, one behind). &nbsp;Metal on metal rattles...period.

haha, my bass hits so hard, i had to take the spoiler off. it rattled sooo much. then i dynamatted everything, even my quarter panels. they were rattling too. just get the trunk kit if the rattling is coming from everywhere, saves u money in the long run.

i used to have my subs facing the rear, sounded great. then one day i faced them towards the front....sounded greater. the sound was louder and the bass was deeper. it may be different for other types of subs and enclosures, but experiment and face the subs a certain way and listen to it like that for a week, then switch.

DO NOT DO THIS. &nbsp;It causes canecellation and lowers your spl. &nbsp;Fire the subs up towards the glass. &nbsp;Facing them towards the front of the car will reduce rattles but will also lower your spl. &nbsp;My car rattled a lot. &nbsp;I filled with foam and used 2 layers of dynamat over the sheet metal and then 2 layers over the interior panels. &nbsp;I then put 3/4&quot; plywood over all that. &nbsp;I also put a layer over the glass on the back 3 windows. &nbsp;I ended up nearly knocking my spoiler off. &nbsp;When the bass hit pieces of metal came out from inside the spoiler and the windshield used to flex a good half inch but there was NOT ONE RATTLE. &nbsp;The car was doing 153's with a soundstream rubicon 702 and 2 solo baric 15's.

I got some Dynamat from Best Buy the other day, and it doesn't look like I thought it would. &nbsp;I thought itwas gonna be a thick paper like amterial.. &nbsp;but its some sort of thick sticky substance w/ a foil cover on it. &nbsp;Is this the way all dynamat looks??

IMO, having the subs face up allows you to make the enclosure a bit flatter and save trunk space..... &nbsp;which offests any sound quality going down (if at all... I used to have my subs facing back, but having them face up didn't take away at all... or i'm def).

Exactly how do you figure that? If you've got enough power to your subs and they're hitting at the same time, it'll force more sound out. I learned this from a pro audio installer.

i have 2 12s(a kicker xpl and jl audio, &nbsp;i bought them used like that) in a band pass box in my 90 FB. &nbsp;i was never a big fan of the back seat so i took the part where you sit on out and folded the back down. &nbsp;the 240s should have been two seaters anyway. &nbsp;the box sits directly behind the seats and right in front of the rear strut pillars. &nbsp;the ports and the plexiglass is facing towards the back so i have the whole back of the car to resonate the sound. &nbsp;the bass is absolutely thunderous, &nbsp;however i am planning on taking the box out and selling the kicker and just put the jlaudio in a single box and face it toward the rear. &nbsp;the bandpass weighs too much. &nbsp;
so, shifting the box as far forward as you can and facing them backwards allows the sound to resonate better. &nbsp;i have had more than one stereo shop tell me this. &nbsp;and it does work. &nbsp;

Sit in the front of your car and don't look at the subs. &nbsp;Turn off the stereo, and tell a friend to face them either front or back, but not to tell you what he's doing. &nbsp;Move your rear-view if you're tempted to cheat. &nbsp;Turn on the stereo when he's done. &nbsp;Try a few different songs. &nbsp;Then, turn off the stereo and tell him to move it. &nbsp;Do the same. &nbsp;Decide which you liked better, and ask which way that was. &nbsp;You could always just move it around and try it for yourself, but blind testing is better. &nbsp;It'll rule out a subconscious preference.
