I figured I would try to post this on here, in case someone could possibly point me in the right direction.
I'm having trouble getting customs to clear/release a rb30e short block that I purchased from Australia 2 mos ago. The block finally arrived locally on friday (11.19.10). I went to customs today to hand in the paper work for clearance: they told me bill of lading and an invoice would be enough.
Nope. It wasnt. Now they are saying the "engine" needs to be certified by epa in order to be released??
I called someone from epa and inquired a lil further. The guy told me that they couldnt certify the engine, because it wasnt going in the same chassis it came out of (holden commodore VL). I could either obtain a racing sanction for an exclusion or apply for a new original cert for the nissan 240 w whatever configuration it will end up with...making me a one off manufacturer so to speak.
Im at a loss here.
I dont really know what to do or how to go about finding a way to get this passed...it sounds like i may be screwed.
How in the world can a company do this, yet I cant as an individual??
HELP!
