So my dad calls me up the other day saying that he has a project for me to look into. I figured it was something involving his Audi, then I hear: "I'm entered into a demolition derby at the end of August and I need you to find me a car."

WHAT?!?!?!

So I need a good car for a demolition derby now. I'm assuming the most important things for demolition derbys are that the car have a really durable structure and also a tight turning radius, but I honestly have no clue. He has a friend that owns a fabrication business so the car will be properly reinforced wherever necessary. His budget is $1500-$2000.

looks like it could take a beating and with reenforcing could be a champ

After doing some research I'm leaning towards a Crown Vic Police Interceptor. Apparently the body/frame is crazy strong and the motors have been designed so that they can take a beating.

Turning radius is not so good but it has excellent durability and a low first gear. My first car was identicale to the white one, it only cost me $550 back in 2001. IF you can find one for sale near you I don't think you could do any better.http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/lincoln/bilder/84_24.jpg

I'd imagine anything with a ladder frame would work well for you. Although most are big and the turning radius wouldnt be great.

if your speanding $1500 on a derby car your crazy, ive never spent more then $200. you just have to look around. we've had alot of success with old lincolns, crown vics, and pretty much any old ford including a 5spd 4cyl foxbody mustang. also, make sure that the radiator has plenty of stop leak poured into it.
