I am purchasing a Blacktop SR from a friend of mine. I was removing the intercooler piping and intercooler and noticed oil sludge in the piping.
I tried to get pics of it but all i have is my Iphone camera. This is my first turbo motor so im a little ignorant on some stuff. Its a stock S13 Blacktop with Meagen Exhaust Manifold and T28 turbo.
The car doesnt get driven much, mostly just on weekends around town. So it sits in a garage alot.
Pics are below. My question is- "is this normal to have this stuff in the piping or is there something i need to look into with the turbo?" Thanks in advance!!

This is not the actual intercooler but for reference. Ignore the crappy photoshop work. In a hurry.

Looks like excessive blow by to me, or maybe turbo seal. If you see oil on intake part before turbo then it's blowby most likely. I would use that to drop the price of that engine your getting.

That much oil is probably turbo seals. Have the turbo looked at.

All engines have some type of blow by especially turbo charged motors , I bet oil catch can is not routed correctly or missing hose to maf piping .check your PCV valve .

turbo seals are going out a little oil is normal but if you have that much oil it looks like the turbo seals are going out

Turbo seals are going out. That is too much oil to be blowby.

This is the way the motor is setup with the black hoses from the valve cover. Is this the correct way of routing them?

I asked him if the oil was new he said it was from the original turbo and this is a new T28 that is on there now.

Also wondering if this exhaust manifold that came on the motor is any good or not. Label on it says Meagen. Was wanting to wrap it with header wrap but dont know if it is good enough not to crack on me.
Thanks for the help!!

Get an Oem one or buy aftermarket and it will fix it , pressure from crank case shoots oil and sludge up to valve cover "T"and straight to intake side of turbo making it seem like turbo seals are leaking.I knew it! Told you so.Dude get a catch can period...

For sure look into getting a catch can set up, BUT that to me is wayyy to much sludge for blow by. Im going to say turbo seals are going as well, I would take a look at that turbo for shaft play as stated above^^

Oil Catch Can !!!!!!

LOL. Ill look into a proper Catch Can setup. I have a Hybrid Valve Cover from MA Motorsports i am going to use for this motor so as soon as i figure out the best route for the Blowby hoses ill get my AN Fittings sorted out and make it happen with the catch can.
Thanks for the help guys!!
