Alright, I've practically decided on going with a S13 (1991+) for a summer project car, and keep my spec v as a winter only/daily driver thing.

I just have a few questions, although I won't be starting until later next spring/early next summer, 240s are rare in my area so it'll take a lil bit of searching and looking for one.

Now, is ABS and Super HICAS worth it? Should I look for one with these things? I've heard both yes and no on both of them.

With ABS alot of people say I won't need it espically when I'm upgrading to bigger rotors, and diffrent calipers. Also that the ABS systems from 10 years ago arn't good, espically when compared to the 4 wheel/4 sensor ABS system on my Spec V.

Some people say Super HICAS is good some people say bad. Some Say good, all I know is this is like is sorta like a 4 wheel steering system, that uses lat forces, speeds, and alot of other factors to turn the rear wheels up to 1 degree...but is it good or bad?

Hopefully I'll be in one next year (I have my mind set on a S13 or another car, but which is EVEN harder to find, but the end result will be similar for pricing for the end project), but it all depends on Canada's 15 year import law, and the supply of other cars I'm looking at (some which might be imported from Japan) and the prices of those other cars.

To me, ABS is a plus, even if isn't all that sophisticated...

agreed. 240s aren't super rare, but it's pretty hard to find a good one. your mindset should be working out a timeframe... when do you want it by? and then look at whatever selection you can find during you search period and choose the best one based on mileage, price, options etc. keep in mind they get snatched up pretty quick (at least down here in jersey)...

good luck!

There is a VERY clean 240SX w/Super HICAS + LSD (I'm in canada 240sx came standard with one) for 6200 Canadian (which is pretty expensive IMO) If I were to buy that one it would cost me roughly 15K US with all the mods that I want to do over roughly a 2 year period.

BUT, Since I live in canada we have 15 year import laws that state that any car you import 15 years or older is exempt from any emissions laws, it just basically has to pass safty. To be insured. So a 15 year R32 GTR from japan would be cheaper than 15K, but then I would have to go to Japan, find a car, hope it's in good shape, and still ship it back to canada by boat and hope my boat doesn't sink or the car doesn't get destroyed on the way here.

Which is why I really wanna go with the 240SX since it's available, I don't have to pay travel expenses and soforth.

My primary is it'll be a summer driver, I would like to get involved in Auto X with this car as well, some drag, and maybe some drifting, I'm looking to build a all summer purpose street/track car combo.

What I plan to do is do SR20DET drop, S15 front end conversion, 180SX tail lights and rear center piece, suspension, Qualife LSD, Stage 1 Turbo Upgrade, and some interior work w/audio stuff, alarm, and immobilizer key (lots of stuff eh?)

More power to you. FYI: not all Canadian 240sxs had LSD. That's a myth. Stage 1 turbo upgrade? You talkin' GT3? or maybe some company's kit? Stage 1 sounds very unspecific and a little clueless. Saying you'll use an S15 turbine or a GT2530 is more clear. Good luck with your future car. Don't baby it. Enjoy it.. just make sure you take care of it by maintaining it and not driving past your car's or your ability.

focus less on the car and more on the driving... my 2 cents

Well, I could do what everyone does, or I could do what only a handful will do, and if things turn out well I could import a car from japan, R32 Skyline GTRs start at roughtly 14K Canadian which includes all shipping fees, duty, and taxes. That would be ALOT cheaper than what I would plan to do with the 240SX, and it would be more rare.

but RWD + SR20DET and I do like the looks of a 240SX more than an R32....hmmm...too many choices.
